Kristy!! you are from the D! What area? Small world!

For instance, this is a square, but just for the genre of art, would something like this appeal to Mark ? It reminds me of your family room art over the sofa. So do you think this bath artwork should be more detailed and specific ? Give us something to go on, girl, lol ! Or maybe it’s just a case of you’ll both know it when you see it.

Detailed art would love vintage look or the look of vintage oil paintings..and you know I love black..but really just want to love it…nothing abstract or modern.

Yep born and raised in southwest Detroit 😀

Julie can you pop over to my thread? I could use some opinions on knobs.

Does he read a particular magazine or newspaper?  kinda tongue and cheek... you could take a couple covers of his favorite magazine, perhaps vintage ones, and frame them for over the commode.  A bit light hearted.

Kristy. I was born and raised in Detroit! Small world. Vintage Detroit architectural drawing might work well? All depends on his desires. I always loved the Fisher Building in DETROIT. Beautiful architecture and amazing interiors. I worked at General Motors across the street Headquarters and the holiday celebrations there were so GRAND. Loved it. Not sure how that area is today. Etsy has some interesting items you and Mark might want to check out.

I got a framed art piece of bolo island, tiger stadium, ambassador bridge, and joe louis arena in my arrival center

Agree with Molly, the Diego Rivera print on the right. It is an engaging piece…..more so than the one on the right. Also, the colors & Rivera’s style evoke more of a response than the straightforward photos.

Julie can you pop over on my thread too? Thanks😊

I think the Diego Riviera piece on the right would be my pick as well. The architecture pieces are very neutral and in terms of long-term interest I think they’re going to disappear.

My sister and BIL have a Diego Rivera piece for over 30 years. It is a compelling work, and every time I visit I find my self absorbed in the piece. What a wonderful artist and this would make a lovely addition to your space.

I really like the Diego Rivers especcially if he has an intrest in Art… . If not, photos good. Also thinking about Theresa’s idea about magazine cover. It is fun to get whimsical things from I Canvas. could be people, places, things things. We have a poster like canvas of (forgot th name) geeze! in our hallway. Anyway, whatever he is into (and it can still be the right color, ha ha)

I have this whimsical Frida Kahlo portrait in hall. Here is some Bob Dylan

This graphic word art ,that describes Michigan, comes ungraded. Different sizes available. You could put a large ( wide) black mat around it with a thin gold frame. You could also stack it with one of the original Michigan artworks from this Etsy site - a lake/ sailboat example -

    Not ungraded, but unframed.🙄auto correct!

What was his favorite album as young(er) man man? Sorry, carried away. Black Doodle might be too fresh? sorry.

I saw this small portion of a painting and it reminded me of your wall color. I was interested to see how it would look in your room, so below the photo is a VERY conceptual idea of a direction. I have no idea where the art is from.

Hopefully Mark’s set back will heal fast and he will get in that surgery. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Julie, love the table decor and your candle holder! The art is beautiful 💕 Thank you for the update - praying the infection heals quickly 🙏🙏

Julie, have been thinking about you and hubby and praying his infection is under control. I hope you both have a Happy Thanksgiving.🍁🍽🦃

Julie, thinking and praying for you both during this rough time.

Julie how long is that table?!! It looks so long if those jars are so big.

What is the blue fabric next to the art? Is that on your dining chairs? I think the art looks great with that fabric.

Are you having anyone visit for thanksgiving? Your mom at least?

I need some centerpiece ideas for my DR table. I got some of those fabric/velvet pumpkins. Idk how to style them or anything. They look so good in pics and so dumb on my table 🤣

Sorry to hear about your hubbies set back I too wish for a good recovery.

My Houzz friends are the best…thank you for all the concern and prayers! It is so nice having your support! We are now in a waiting period and he is doing really well…moving around much easier. Pool we are staying home and no family for Thanksgiving so close to surgery we don’t want to take any chances of getting sick before surgery day.

Pool my dining table is 112 long…and yes that velvet fabric is my host chair fabric…they won’t be here until January🙁 but little by little the room is gaining personality…the tall ginger jar is 25” tall…..they are so beautiful in person…Pool how long is your table?

Pool I have a little silver tea pot that I added plum flowers in and than used my velvet pumpkins around the base last year in my Thanksgiving table.

Understand wanting to stay healthy for his surgery! When is it scheduled? Did they say what recovery will be like? So difficult but I'm glad to hear he's feeling better.

What will be on the menu for just the two of you?

Currently I keep a leaf in the table so it's an oval about 78" long right now. This was my pathetic blobs of pumpkins. Initially I had a tall white jar in the middle but IDK why I removed it. I think maybe mine are too big, at least the white one. I envisioned leaning them on each other but that didn't work. Maybe I needed some sticks or things to fill in. Put it all on a tray?

Since we aren't having company for Thanksgiving, I'll go ahead and remove these pumpkins and work on a nice xmas centerpiece.

Are there some guidelines to help poor pathetic peeps like me? :) Like 1 tall, 2 med, 1 short or some other formula?

Do you have a big pedestal bowl or low server…you can just add some greens…. eucalyptus..candle and add the pumpkins….when they are in a vessel of some kind you can lean them on each other a bit and they stay…just need various heights..fresh and real together look great too..add a few more real pumpkins….pinecones.

We are making small 12 lb Turkey and homemade stuffing..salad , rolls easy breezy! I think I am going to make a pumpkin pie too…we were alone last Thanksgiving when in Texas so we are used to it…

We’ve already had our Thanksgiving here in Canada, where if for some reason they jump to season by over a month. I’ll just enjoy your feast. Vicariously! Happy Thanksgiving…

Pool, Julie is right you need some kind of container. It could be a round tray, a bowl, something to pull your arrangement together, and then just a bit of variety. A plant or a candle…add a bit of height. It’s difficult to get several things that are identical to look good.

I’m sure there are rules about this sort of thing, but I never pay attention to them.

I have cake stand. Can that work? I don't think I have anything else but I'll look around.

    It could…..a basket of any kind..soup tureen….

It is just something to contain and “frame” it… cake stand, even a round placemat… trivet, nice serving plate, basket, etc.

I'll keep that in mind when I make a xmas centerpiece. Which I'll be doing in the next several days haha.

Pool…. If you have mason jars, spray paint with glitter or and fill with fresh stems from outside your home. Add greens and ribbons tied together down the center of your table. Add tea lights to light for dinner lighting. What a fun project. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Hey Pool…he is hanging in there..a couple hard days but doing better today…see doctor tomorrow we thought it was today…🙄so hoping for a thumbs up that things are healing..but he will be in a leg stabilizer for at least 3 more weeks so he doesn’t activate his quad and risk tearing the graft.
