Help with kitchen remodel layout

Currently have a kitchen/breakfast area and morning room The island is small (36”x63”) and a peninsula (with breakfast bar) where the sink/dishwasher are. Not really a fan, so looking to remove the peninsula and increase the island.

First photo is current floor plan. Second photo is my non-professional design (oven at the right end of the counter should be a double wall oven but the tool I was using didn’t have that option). Third photo is from a reno company which shows the layout for the right counter which is currently one of those kitchen desks that we will turn into a bar area.

The peninsula piece is also a 5’ wall, assuming load bearing. Ideally I’d like to remove it but if not, hoping to at least reduce it to around 2.5’ so the fridge can go on the other side of it, eating into the morning room a bit. If not, we’ll have to keep the fridge on the kitchen side and that back wall where the cooktop is would be less counter space. But the 10’x5’ island should be sufficient. Any idea? The sink and cooktop not lining up is giving me pause but have heard that’s better for multiple people in the kitchen.

To clarify, this is an existing home. So current floor plan layout is in use. We would be remodeling, not changing layout for a new build.

Looks good. I’d put a sink at the bar area.

Please post a measured plan. 3D drawings don’t reallly help us. For instance your island looks 6’ deep which would be too large for function or many slabs. I’m just guessing though.

We do want to put a small prep sink on the bar area counter, probably left side. Not sure I want it centered there.

Sorry about that - here are some of the measured plans that one company gave us. Now, the island here is WAY too big. We do want waterfall island, but I wanted something around 9-10’ long and 5’ deep (with the overhang on the seating side). This plan has it at 7.5’ deep??

How would you ever clean the center of the island?

Good question! Ha! Really, I’m totally green at this and just worried about going too small and regretting it after. Our current island is 63” deep in front of the cooktop, so I figured keeping that depth or thereabouts, and just extending the length. And obviously making it look good in the space. The total length of the kitchen will also depend on if we can get rid of that wall, or just push it back some to kind of make it more flush with the fridge and make the fridge still look like part of the kitchen. It’s a 6” thick wall. If we can’t, the fridge has to stay on the right side and it reduces the overall size of the kitchen, which will also reduce the island. I want big, but I also want it to make sense.

Do you plan anything for the remainder of the morning room, or all kitchen?

Not sure yet. Ideally I’d like to keep some “morning room” rather than make it all kitchen. Just wanting to steal the wall space to the right of the window for the fridge because we’re not fond of the current placement of the fridge. It’s right by the entrance from our garage and mud room and it sticks out so it kind of blocks that area. So thought by moving it to the back/main wall it would be more out of the way. Right now the morning room is just dog crate space and leads to our back deck. We’ve thought about moving the kitchen table/chairs over to the corner if we do the remodel. It’s more casual seating since we do have a dining room on the other side of the pantry. Or maybe a cute coffee sitting area. Former owners had some decor and seating there (MLS photo).

So far, we’ve just changed out the door to a slider with no grids to get a bit more of the view in. I love that window wall!
