why does it appear that there is salt build up on the media surface??

if it your tap water.. or are you fert'g?

Hi, I use distilled water for the calatheas and worm casting as fertilizer, Maybe that is where the salt or mineral is coming from (I sprinkle it on top of the soil), but I don’t think that that’s the problem, there are 3 other calatheas/stromantes on the same shelf and those are looking great

Update on the weird new growth, it almost looks like some kind of variegation. 🤷🏻‍♂️
