Do not use contact paper. It's a fire hazard. There are things called stove guards/protectors/covers that are more meant for the purpouse. I don't use them, so I don't have a recommendation on what is a good brand or not.

If you are using a brillo pad, you might be running the risk of stratching the enamel finish. That can lead to the gunk settling in worse into those scratches. Use a chemical grease cutter if you are having a grease problem. Consider using lids or splatter screens on your pots and pans during cooking to help prevent buildup. Clean your stove surface as soon as you safely can after cooking every time so you don't get oil and grease pile up to begin with.

No contact paper, thats a fire waiting to happen very fast. No brillo pads either. You should be able to just wipe everything off with a cloth with dawn and hot water. You shouldnt need anything on there. Turn your burners down a bit, and dont fry everything on high, and you wont get all those splatters. Hopefully, you have an exterior vented stove hood too.

I expect that by using Brillo pads (why???), @lianna wright has ruined the finish of her porcelain range. Consequently it will never look smoothly clean, the shine is gone, and the scratches will collect grime. A Dobie pad (it’s non-scratch), hot water and a bit of dish soap would have cleaned her cooktop well. She can use that going forward, but at this point, the best choice are the stove guards mentioned above that are found online in several configurations.
