We have used 6x6's many times on free form pools. They can work provided the the radii are not too tight otherwise the pieces will have to be cut small.

A 1x1 tile gives much more flexibility and should be considered.

I've never heard of a company using only one size. Tile is tile.

As posted, take a look at their previous work on a free form and make a decision.
