That is very traditional furniture, so shiplap would be very out of place. Remove the wallpaper border around the ceiling and paint the room a warm off white - maybe some gray, but don't go too dark and stay away from cool colors since the furniture is a warm brown.

If you can, spend some time looking at pictures on Houzz and compile Ideabooks so you can figure out what you like before you make any expensive decisions.

There's very much of a Jacobean feeling to the furniture. If you're into historical decorating styles, you have a great opportunity to go for it here. These are quite ornate, but your bed has a more rustic feel to it, so you wouldn't have to go overboard. That said, I would be very tempted to put beams up in that vaulted ceiling, and do a parquet floor. Do a bit of research for yourself.

I would remove the posts and the canopy of the bed. Choose your bedding next then rug. I would not do any shade of gray - just too depressing with that furniture. Once you have bedding & carpet then look at paint colors. And yes remove the border

If you like the bed, I like deco's ideas. A not too dark jewel tone would look nice with the furniture. I have BM Mount Saint Anne in my living room with dark wood that creates a lovely contrast.

IMO the bed is very formal and "shiplap" is very rustic so no to that. I think hold off if possible on the carpet IMO dark gray with thta bed will be very gloomy. How old are you BTW ? Is this bed your decor stlye in the rest of the house? I need some clue as to your actual style. Waht is thta trim near the ceiling? Do you need a desk in the bedroom IMO always a bad idea. Is the armoire needed I think we need a lot moreinfo to help. Do you love a dark bedroom for instance BTW looked at your idea book for bedrooms and you could easily go in that direction .

With dark carpet and dark furniture, I’d go very light on walls and bedding.

The room in the pictures doesn't appear to have a lot of natural light sources. A lot of modern looks like to keep as much natural light flowing into the room as they can. That being said, you can select a window covering which allows light to come in like solar shades or sheer fabrics in banded shades. They're more of a modern look compared to classic blinds or curtains.
