Exterior Renovation Before and After

We unknowingly bought the equivalent of "The Money Pit" house from the 1980's movie. After significant structural and non-structural repairs and a multi-year lawsuit everything is now fixed.

I thought people might like seeing our before and after pictures.

@arcy_gw - We didn't change the house because we wanted to. We discovered after a year that the house had structural problems in multiple areas on the front and back because of 40+ years of ignored water intrusion (the sellers hid this prior to selling the house to us - we won the lawsuit). To fix the house the entire exterior including the roof, windows, siding, and brick had to be torn off to the studs to perform structural repairs (framing, jacking the house back up, rim joists etc.). During that process it was determined the slope over the front door was improperly installed and was also designed it a way that would continue to cause leaking. The end result was a entire unplanned redo of the exterior.

I always find it interesting when people purchase a specific type of home then change it sooo much it isn't that sort of home anymore. It took so long dark trim is back "in". LOL.

Wow those are difficult lawsuits to win. i cant imagine buying a house and having to go through all that! And for any posters who complain about the changes, read the OPs comment that they had to tear the house to the studs. it may be different than the original but its still beautiful and thank goodness not black and white ;) to replicate the orignal tudor is very expensive (brick and stucco are expensive!!) — and depending where you live, stucco just is not very practical. i think the right thing to do was to go a different direction (alrhough you dont need my approval) while still having a charming house because you could have never really replicated the original.
