Ceramic bowl .....

I have a bowl made by a local artisan that I've been displaying on my dining room table. I have plastic fruit in it but I would like to put something nicer in it. The bowl is about 12" across and 3-4 " high. I just can't think what else to do with it. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Because most of the beauty is on the interior of the bowl, I would leave it empty and perhaps find a way to display it on a lower table so you look at the inside, or find a bowl stand where you can display it upright on a credenza, bookshelf or mantel.

I'd put something textural in it that doesn't draw away from the pottery - maybe some pine cones, acorns, or beautiful stones. I dislike empty bowls unless they're displayed on their sides - otherwise, they always look half-finished to me.

I have several art-pottery bowls sitting on bowl display stands. Link to bowl stands

I have a decorative pottery bowl on my dining table, I leave it empty. It’s on a runner with two candlestick holders.

Yours is lovely; there is elegance in simplicity.

Is it the only table decor? What size is your table? Scale is a factor, as well as your overall decor style.

I would leave it empty sometimes since it's such a nice art piece. Is there anything you collect that can fit in it? If it were me, aside from leaving empty, sometimes I'd use it for real fruit, stones or small driftwood pieces I collect at the lake. Maybe display some loose photos in it, or tiny pumpkins for fall. I like the idea of pinecones, too, or set a small plant (pot and all) in it for a few days. I think a small fern would look nice but I can't keep those things alive for anything!

I wouldn't put anything in it either, it is so beautiful.

Do you have a couple of different size candle

olders, kind of plain and not too fancy...just place to the side with some candles to

match the color? Something that goes with or is the same art pottery look, but

will accent and not steal the show?

I like natural objects like pinecones, sweet gum and other seed pods. For the holiday season, I fill bowls etc. with vintage glass globe ornaments too, along with sprigs of evergreens.

P.S. Just had a thought that clear glass globes would be cool and allow the colors of the bowl interior to show through...

Why would you put anything in it? Especially plastic fruit. it's lovely sitting on its own. A work of art. Although mine is an entirely different look, I have three very large antique wooden butter bowls in a row on an old farm table. They are all empty for impact and to show their lovely shape.

I have decorative bowls on wooden tripod stands, but I have put small wrapped candy in some of them - generally after Halloween, but then I take it out fairly soon.

Most of my decorative bowls are wooden and are from Africa - one was made from a huge gourd, and has an intricately carved interior, and so I don't want to leave candy in it too long.

    Here is one of them:

I don't think I have ever put anything in this one.

I'm another who says to leave it empty. Less is more! Oh, for the holidays, maybe ornaments or Easter eggs in the spring. I'd keep it empty or if you must put something in it, a sense of whimsy should guide you. Never plastic fruit. I am reminded of the story of a mother who let her two young daughters create a centerpiece for a dinner party, They came up with a salad bowl full of Barbie parts,

Your art pottery bowl is a beautiful piece and it doesn't need anything in it to cover up it's beauty. I agree with everyone who said to display it empty on your table, or on a bowl stand. You're very fortunate to own such a lovely piece.

I use a empty crystal bowl on my dining room table. The only time I have decorations in it is on some holidays.

Another vote for leaving it empty. It's far too beautiful to hide its interior. Maybe put it on a bowl stand. If you have some candlesticks that would enhance the color maybe add them to the display, with candles, of course.
