Tropical Plants Garden

Elephant ear not growing

Hello, I purchased a elephant ear plant about 4-5 months ago and planted it in partial sun in a moist soil area. The plant has remained healthy and grown new leaves but not the giant elephant ear sized leaves. I dont know the exact variety as it was just labeled -elephant ear-. I am in southern california, zone 9b or sunset zone 18.

The smaller the bulb planted the smaller the leaves. They will grow bigger over time. They also fertilizer. I think they may be getting too much sun. Mine have darker green leaves.

I'm in zone 5 presently and it only gets a few hours of direct sunlight. I have a large one at home that was in dappled sunlight most of the day. I had to cut down the tree a few weeks ago that was giving it shade and the elephant ear isn't too happy now.
