Paint colors for orange wood floors

I am trying to decide on paint colors for my guest room. The wood floors shine with extreme orange undertones, I am wanting to tone down the orange color. Also, would you paint the wood beams a different color than the stark white they are now? Any suggestions on painting the closet doors and french door trim? Any help would be greatly appreciated !

So no bed just the pullout sofa? Usuallty I choose wall color once the bedding has been decided but if no bed then use the soafe color to drive the decor. I would get a rug to cover some of the floor and choose a color from the rug for the walls . Maybe show the whole space since I see astack of bedding in one pic . Please remove those horrible blinds from the door there is nothing wrong with just drapes there , that slatted closet door needs to be painted or changed IMO all the trim the ceiling and the wall one color the trim and slatted door in semigloss the rest all matte . So choose a nice soft grayed / green maybe like this . I cut this 25% often to just have ahint of color it is so neutral it works in any space .

When will you address the terrible finish on the wood floors or will you always just work around them?

Seems to me you should refinish the floors with just a clearcoat. These look like they are probably white oak floors that either have yellowed over time or just have a really bad stain on them. Do that first before you paint your home. It will be worth it.

The floors would look something like this if refinished as I've suggested:

Those are the orangest floors I've ever seen. :-) Either refinish them or get a big area rug. The walls are already green which is usually what is recommended to offset orange. The color Patricia suggested is a nice lighter green - maybe you would like that better? Whatever you do, don't use blue or a cool white as that will make the floors look even worse. I would replace the closet doors with white doors to match the trim and the white blinds on the French doors with something that matches the door color if you're not up for painting them. I wouldn't want to paint a louvered door. You're right that the bright white is not doing the room any favors. You need a warmer creamy white.

I don't love the beams on the ceiling. They would be better in a wood color to match the ceiling, or paint the whole ceiling if removing them is too much work. Also, context matters. What does the rest of your house look like? If you have these orange floors and white beams on a wood ceiling everywhere what is your long-term plan for the rest of the house?

Thank you all for your responses, I SO appreciate it. This home is 100 years old, it’s going to be a work in progress but for right now I need to work with what I have in my budget. Sanding wood floors is expensive and we have these throughout the house, so it would be a major task. I added photos of the room and the main living space for context. I like the idea of painting the ceiling and beams as the white is too bright and the orange kills me. The floors throughout the house are darker, I’m not sure why these are so orange.

Has anyone ever attempted to sand wood floors themselves? I have looked into this but it seems like it’s something to leave to a professional.

Also- as you can see the doors are wood too (everything is wood) what color would you paint the doors? Thank you!!

Side note- the lamp and desk chair are not staying and there will be furniture and art added. The couch is a pull out and I won’t have a bed as I need it to be used as an office

I sanded, repaired, stained and finished wood floors in a prior home. Fortunately, prior to moving in. It was a lot of work, but looked great afterwards. You need to have everything out of the rooms for the whole time.

You might consider the dilemma of your all-blue furniture in an otherwise warm-toned environment of orange floors & green walls? If the furniture were recovered in olive or creamy linen, say, I suspect the floor wouldn't clash so much.

Out of curiosity, what's the vintage of your house? (There's a whole range of hideous historical orange tones from 1900's Victorian ambered shellac through 1970's 'colonial' polyurethane, lol.)

I happen to adore the old-fashioned orangey wood finishes -- they work really well with avocado green furniture and accessories in browns, rusts and darker greens -- but I'm aware I'm an oddball in that preference. :)

As homeowners husband and I have refinished multiple wooden floors ourselves, and it's not technically that difficult if you can operate power tools, but it is indeed a serious (and physically slightly demanding) DIY project that takes a time commitment and some good research on the best techniques, appropriate finishes for your needs, budget, etc.

A few updates to the project! (Painted the walls, ceiling and doors white.

The back door still needs to be painted white with the hardware black.

*Do you like the picture frame modeling idea? Would you paint the picture frame modeling wall a different color to accent it more? The rug is a 6x9 is this a good fit for the space?
