Ceiling for a nice dramatic look. Funny how architects who do up the blueprints forget to consider how the owner might hang curtains properly.

Take it to the ceiling and go get the fourth panel. This is an instance where you need the symmetry.

I would not cover the beautiful woodwork trim. I would remove the curtains from the French door and install either a cornice on the interior trim of the windows with sheer curtains OR install flush roman shades to the interior of the frame. Covering the wood trim which is expensive, timeless and pretty would be a mistake

Hang the window treatment high to give the illusion of height; this is the most important rule when hanging a curtain. The pole or valance should be hung a minimum of 4 inches and a maximum of 12 inches above the top of the window in most cases. When this rule is ignored and the curtain is hung on or just above the wood work, it always looks unprofessional and inexpensive. Even a budget valance or unlined curtain panel can look well done and professional when hung at the proper height above the window. Don't know how to install a curtain rod? Avoid making holes in your walls by calling a local handyman.

I would hang the rod as high as you can. Pretty pattern on the panels.

Depending on the length of the panels, I'd hang them higher...at least halfway between the ceiling and the top of the door frames...and also wide as you can on the sides so the total opening looks bigger and the panels don't cover the windows and block out light when their open.

Dammit...they're, not their. haha

Get an extra panel for each side of the door and hang the drapes about 5" from the ceiling and go beyond the width of the window so it doesn't look skimpy

It looks as though you need a total of two with a sheer for EACH window. If your ceilings are low, the curtain look best hung from the ceiling, to give height to the room. The door would look better with a cellular shade, that matches, to just cover the window part of the door.

Your panels will look so much nicer if you dress them a little better. The edge of the panels should just cover the frames of the windows--so you hide the frame and only see the glass. Are they too long? I like that rod up high like that.

I have a bay window and the separation between each window is about 3" apart and curved I would like to hang my curtains in the 2 3" spaces and then at the end where the windows meet the wall. Can someone suggest what I can put in that 3" space so I can hang a curtain. I don't want to cover my windows. Thank you
