Comments (155)Thanks ladies and gents for the advice re ganglion cyst, now that I'm diagnosed I'll make a doctor's appointment! My distrust stems from a house-call when I was a teenager. I was very sick, sore stomach and the doctor examining me said "I think it's your appendix" to which I replied "may I draw your attention to this large abdominal scar?" Re exercise. I am not so far gone as I can't be fixed so I'm determined to make an effort. I feel myself losing abilities little by little and I know it's sheer laziness. My cousin's wife was in the same boat so she started exercising and she really looks great now. If you don't hear me mention it again you'll know I'm backsliding! The good news is that although I put on a good bit of weight it has stabilized so I can work on going down the scale....See MoreOLLD 7/2
Comments (266)I wish that Houzz allowed up to reply to specific posts, and then have a link from the response back to the original post .. I kind of get the gist that you've been commenting on a "Design Dilemma", but I missed the beginning of that conversation! I just wanted to say that as a child, I shared a room with my Mom .. we lived in my grandmother's house with a bunch of other relatives. No one asked how I wanted the room decorated. When my aunt married & moved out, I inherited her room, and was so happy with that I wouldn't have dreamed of even asking for it to be redecorated for me! When my great-uncle died, I got his tiny bedroom as a study space, and again was thrilled to have it. I think that when decorating a child's room, they should be asked for input that will be INCORPORATED in the design, with the parents making final decisions. Mom told me that when I started paying the bills, I'd be entitled to make more of the decisions; I think that's an excellent attitude for parents & children to know who's "in charge" and why....See MoreWhat changes are in store at your place for 2014?
Comments (207)Except for the furniture, this is what the dining room looked like before and after. The table we have now is only a temporary table (we used to use it at the cabin because it folds down to nothing and stores the chairs, so it's not exactly trendy, but it's something we can use until time to move. New, light, pulled down wallpaper border, new paint, new trim, new doors, widened doorway to the kitchen, new floor, some electrical work and a LOT of damaged wall work. Before and after (sadly, the color looks a bit lemony in these photos…..it's really a beautiful buttery color. So lovely that I'm having one of the rooms in my new house painted this color even though I don't normally like yellow rooms):...See MoreTermite Tales?
Comments (42)Here everyone uses Boron or Borax to treat log home and wood. Just mix 1/2 lb to a gallon of water and spray the wood surface. I always use Tempo SC Ultra to treat my house inside and out. It will kill just about anything except a Pharaoh ant. Pharaoh ants are the very small ones that like to invade homes mainly in the late late summer and early fall. The problem with them is they only eat protein (meats, nuts, cat and dog food etc). Terro liquid ant killer works good on them. I like to crush cat food into a fine powder and mix it with Terro. They will carry it back to the nest and feed it to the queen and larva thus wiping out the nest. Boron and borax is also good to mix with finely crushed cat or dog food.....See Morearbordave (SE MI)
