where is this going? It would help if you posted a picture of the room.

Both of these are being considered over an 8 ft kitchen island - the room isn’t built yet so cannot provide a true photo.
Bright white perimeter cabinet, hale navy island and a cool white/gray quartz with brass faucet/hardware is all on the mood board. Hope that helps.
Modern farmhouse meets more of transitional style but not wanting an overly formal space.

IMO pendant lights will simply lower the ceiling. I would stick with recessed downlights over the island.

Nobody will scroll through ten thousand lights on the Burke Decor pendant, to find the specs.

The up light from Pottery Barn?

Minimum hang is important on a short ceiling!! All dimensions are important. As to Pottery barn? You need two, it's 21 wide and one ? Will look lost. Note the stems on the specs. You will be able to use one 12 inch. - there are no six inch pieces. It's rare these days to find an electrician willing to use a threader.

Math? 93 inches minus the 72 inches ( counter height and space below the light, TO the counter...leaves 21 inches.) You will have a light that is 16 inches. Which means there will be 41 inches below those lights,......to your counter top.

No clue what happen happens with that single and on eight feet of island ? You would need two/ three - but who knows? Specs......specs......specs.

IMO first no Edison bulbs ever in any light period .They went the way of the dodo when better options wereinvented . I like pendants to light the island not the ceiling and pendants can be that one spot of glitz in a kitchen . We need to see the kitchen and also the style of the cabinets for sure. I do not agree that pot lights are the only option over an island since small pendants can be hung to not bother you at all for height.

@Jan Moyer will tell you what size and how many if you give her more details, but IMO a down light looks better over an island.

The Downlight has a spec of 14” wide at the base and a height of 16” - so I believe 2 would be the right answer.
The pendant is beautiful in person but now I’m second guessing that bulb.

Post the LINK please, to the actual pendant. You are not understanding the height issue, the spec importance as to the minimum hanging height.: ) It's is not just about width. You don't want to buy something that will end 12 inches from your counter top. Ceiling height has evolved to the point, that 8' or less is virtually non existent! Lighting follows that trend..... Kapeesh?

this is not my favorite look, as this type of fixture ends up looking stuck to the ceiling.

Ideally in your case chain or cord would be a better option way more flexibility in hanging height.
