Regretting the color of tile backsplash

Just finishing up a huge kitchen renovation and the tile just went in- I love the actual tile but I think the grout, tile, and cabinet color we chose really clash and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on ways we can help/fix. Aside from pulling out the tile and redoing it 🙈 the whites are a mix of warm and cool. Ugh. I think cabinets are Dove white, grout is laticrete silver Shadow, tile is a matte white subway. my wonderings: maybe going all out and painting upper cabinets the same blue as island? Rattan Roman blinds for the windows? Painting window trim?

If the colors in the 2nd photo are more true to life than the way the cabs seem very warm in the first photo, you should be fine. Truly I think this is an instance when your sconce lighting might be too warm.

I too think it turned out great

I agree with all the above comments. Everything n your kitchen has a cool tone other than the lights in your pendats. Thaat's such an easy fix. Try cool toned bulbs and see what you think. Stop secon guessing yourself, you've done a grreat job! Congrats!

Try different lighting -- if your bulbs are cool, try warmer ones. Or vice versa. You might find a color temperature that brings the tile and cabinet colors closer together. Start with the lighting right above your sink, which is the most noticeable. If you find something that works, replace all bulbs. Don't forget to play around with the pendant color temps too, they kind of look warmer than your uppers?

If lighting doesn't resolve it, I don't think painting the lower cabs will help. The uppers are at eye level and the color difference is the most noticeable there. You would need to repaint all cabinets, trim, and the ceiling too. Honestly, it's probably easier and cheaper to replace the backsplash. Sorry. But really? Live with it for a while. This room is pretty and the color different is subtle. Maybe you will stop noticing it.

I think your kitchen is lovely. You don’t need to change anything in my humble opinion. I especially love the beams and hood over the stove.

Nobody can make you love your kitchen but please don't tell yourself you've broken some warm/cool meaningless rule. Lots of people have cream and white kitchens, as I do. I'm so tired of the flat, surgical white kitchen look. Your cabinets have a slight contrast to the tile (and the sink) but nothing looks dingy. It's just a warm, inviting kitchen. Congratulations.

the summ is greater than the parts. Its not worth questioning a tone or two this way or that way. Its a well done space. the only thing Id be sure to do would be a bit more colorful pieces behind the glass doors. Enjoy and the blue looks beautiful with the wood....thats the main thing I noticed.

Stunning kitchen! Don’t second guess yourself just yet. Live with it for awhile until you get used to seeing the warm and cool tones blending together beautifully.

I think that your kitchen is gorgeous, and it looks like I’m not alone in that. Definitely live with it for a bit before doing something as drastic as tearing out the tile or painting the cabinets blue. Congratulations on completing your renovation! I’m a big fan of soapstone and think that we’ll use it again in our next house.

You just need a little time to get used to the changes. The kitchen is bright and cheerful. I love the blue island, but would keep the perimeter cabinetry white. The only thing I would add would be some semi sheer curtains for a bit of privacy….less sheer if you go into the kitchen in your bathrobe or nightgown. So pretty!

Your kitchen is gorgeous! I love the counter, and the blue island is smashing! Regarding the splash, close up photo yes I can see a tonal difference but looking at the kitchen as a whole, it isn't noticeable.

Thanks everyone! It’s helpful to know that others see what I’m saying (I’m not going crazy) but also I think a good idea to just sit with it and that I’ll adjust and pretty soon won’t even notice! We really do love how the kitchen turned out- just in case my post made it seem like I hated it!

I'm glad you are settling down. But seriously, experiment with some different color temperature light bulbs. It really could help. Keep the receipts, you can always return them.

Great kitchen. Wouldn’t change a thing.

Cahnge all the light bulbs to LED 4000K and then see what if anything needs changing.
