MESH FABRIC, stretched and neatly framed, over dowels. You don't want a solid bottom except on the lowest drawer. The whole purpose of a rack is airflow to both sides..., and yes, the lay flat of course. Answer? wring well: ) on hand wash, or roll in a towel to absorb prior to laying flat, and drips will not be an issue. Faster dry times as a result, especially when using multiple drawers/racks

You're simply adding the ( Sailright) mesh over the dowels such as below......I wouldn't want JUST the dowels : ) especially when drying cashmere socks, or any other small delicates.
