I have liked to keep the color of my trim and cabinets the same, but opt for a different wall (and a different ceiling) color. I am also a big believer in eggshell finishes for kitchen and baths, as well as all trim and cabinets. I know flat is supposed to be more durable these days, but my (very recent) experience says otherwise.

I am not sure why he would charge you more for different colors (same amount of paint??), but I would take the upgrade. Paint is quite important in the feel of a home. There is a reason why realtors always like to sell freshly painted homes.

I would like eggshell finish, but builder will only do flat even if I pay for upgrade.

Have the builde4 prime only, takea credit, and hire someone who will paint what you want

Go to sherwin williams and pull the 8x8 sample sheets of those colors to look at next to one another. You’ll see the hue differences. Did my guest bath in creamy it’s a subtle yellow white. Love Snowbound.

The kitchen is only one room. I would have them paint the house a color that will go with your furniture and floors. If you end up having to paint the kitchen over because the color doesn't work with your cabinets, you are still ahead. Getting large samples of all the available colors to look at is good advice. Hopefully you can get a flooring sample and you know what furniture you're going to take to the new house.

Thank you all for your suggestions.I struggle with paint. I was looking somewhere to save money on the building cost. I had hoped if I went one of the standard paints I could paint again down the road. I will bite the bullet and paint two colors.
