Front Door Choice

Design Choice for Front Door- I want to change my front door. I am thinking to switch to a wooden double door. Do you think the width of the stairs is enough for a double door, or would it look disproportionate? In terms of colors, what would you choose b

etween wooden or black? Picture of the options.

I'm sorry, i wouldn't change what you have for any of your options. The double door options i feel would need a canopy above for it to look balanced. The current set up looks balanced and proportioned to the front of the house. Identify what is bothering you and making you think of changing. It could be simply that that the glass is no longer appealing - so changing that element could change the whole feeling around the door.Is it the white?  A repaint in the current in the dark color of the shutters ?  If your house has a significant history, try to locate historical images to see how it was originally. This can sometimes help to rebalance a home that has changed over time.

I couldn’t open any of the voting links for doors to see what you’re considering. But, I was wondering about what @kazzh suggested. What about painting the trim around the door & sidelights the color of shutters? If you’re wanting to replace, it would be good to change out the look you have just to see if a simple change works. The strong color around door would make it pop & balance the ” importance” of the door glass & side lights - which are pretty.

ETA Also, changing the lights to larger ones would add a real zing to the entry

Get your shrubs pruned so you can see the entry and windows.

If you spend this much money and then don't install a canopy to protect the door you might as well burn your money.

Don't replace the door, it's beautiful. I like the idea of painting it dandelion yellow (not the trim). And yes, trim the hedges.

Changing the door will have a huge impact and suggest wood or a more appealing color (for your home) than black. I’d keep to a single door, but enhance with framing, which will also balance the lights as they are awkwardly placed (would also replace with larger ones).

I’d also paint the shutters and work on new landscaping. Your house will be transformed/have more charm.

Can you show the house in better light? It’s hard to tell what color it is.

Don't know where you went or what stairs you were referencing, but without seeing the entire house, one can't really determine the best option for you. Removing the planters and hedges would be my first step. Then I'd get larger lantern lights that are at least 1/3 of the door's height. IMO, a good idea would be to remove the shutters entirely and just go with the white trim. This pic mostly shows the flower beds, but notice the shutterless house.
