LOVE Saatva luxury firm. We have 4 of them, and we’re on round 2, loved them so much we bought them again when it was time to replace. We are also people that need a regular old school mattress and not air filled or any of the newer types.

Truly the only way to buy a mattress is the old fashioned way - go to a store and leave enough time so that you lie on the mattress for a good period of time to get a sense of what is comfortable.

You should also spend a bit of time understanding how mattresses are constructed so that you can truly understand the specifications and what they mean? Do you want coils? What makes for quality coil construction? What makes for the best memory foam? Do you know the difference between the comfort layer and the wear layer and how differences in those impact both the feel of a mattress and how it will last.

I spent several days when I replaced my mattress and I LOVE my mattress but you might not. My neighbor loves his Temperpedic but I tried them at the store and I don't care for memory foam at all.

I didn't wind up with a "name" mattress although I did test drive those at the stores. Mine has a latex comfort layer with top layer being merino wool for temperature control. The wear layer is high density foam (not to be confused with memory foam). I love my mattress because it feels like a supportive cloud - you might not plus mine came in soft, medium and firm configurations and I tested both the medium and firm at the store. I actually took my iphone and read for awhile so that I would have a real sense of what the mattress actually felt like
