Cafe Dual Fuel Double Oven vs. Cafe Induction Single Oven Range?

last modified: 4 years ago

Seeking advice from anyone who owns a 30 inch Cafe Dual Fuel Double Oven Range or a 30 inch Cafe Induction Single Oven Range.

Have planned for the last several months to get the Cafe dual fuel double oven range for our new kitchen reno (about to begin demo). Small kitchen, no room for separate cooktop/wall oven. Really love how the cafe range stovetop squeezes a lot of functional burners into a small space. And of course the double oven flexibility. A little wary of neither oven being terribly big, but maybe it's an excuse to beg off of hosting a big Thanksgiving? ;) Even still, the larger oven is still as big as many single oven ranges, so I don't think it will be that bad.

But, due to environmental and health considerations, really interested in induction. The induction version of the Cafe double oven range won't be available until at least next summer, so basically not an option. So if I want induction, the Cafe single oven range is definitely the best choice at our price range, and has a way bigger oven than other competitor models. (Not interested in Samsung or LG.)

Would be grateful for anyone who owns these particular models to comment on whether there is anything in particular you LOVE or HATE about them, that will help me decide whether the tradeoff of getting induction is worth losing the double oven.

Thank you!

    Double oven.

You'll be happy with either gas or induction. Both will be responsive and great quickly. But get the second oven. I personally have an induction double oven that will one day arrive *daydreams*. My neighbor has the same one, I got to cook on it, and it's really good. The larger oven is convection and can fit a turkey or two baking sheets. The smaller oven can fit one baking sheet. You can easily cook the turkey and the sides at different temperatures at the same time!

I had been considering the dual fuel double oven range too. We are coming from full size double wall ovens, but thinking we don't really need two full size ovens. The bottom oven on the double oven range is so low though. My SIL/BIL have one and don't have any issues with bending over to access the bottom oven (and they are older than me lol). Have you seen it in person yet to see if you like it? I also have concerns about the bottom one being so low and our small dog getting nosey and getting burned. We still haven't ruled it out yet. Good luck making your decision!

I have the double oven range, absolutely my love.

I have the platinum glass finish with big display.... so other finishes have smaller display?

Three things that might help with that very low oven:

    1. I believe the oven comes with a rolling rack (you can check that). That should help with getting stuff in & out of the oven.

    2. The door is shallower than a regular oven door, so there isn't as much hot door to reach over.

    3. I got an oven stick to help pull/push my somewhat low oven rolling rack. Using the stick, I don't have to bend as much, and it keeps hands & arms away from hot surfaces. Well worth the $20 bucks I paid for a handcrafted solid walnut stick. Inexpensive ones available on Amazon, if you prefer.

You can use the stick to pull & raise the door so you can grab the door handle more easily. Or open the door slightly, then use the stick to push it down to the fully open position. Easier on the knees & back.
