Thank you for your response. The TV measures 48" x 28". Seating is at 8-10 feet away and is very comfortable at present. The TV needs to be lower, however. We have determined that the TV will have to fall lower than the mantle's bottom edge. What I'm contemplating is the design and configuration. I thought of a built in "bench" between the wall and fireplace with more stacked stone underneath it, then the TV either set on the bench or on an articulated arm. The top of the bench would need to provide access to cords etc. I thought of floating shelves above and I do have stain so could try to match the mantle. If I did an articulated arm I don't know how I'd hide the chords so I'm more inclined to want the TV sitting on its legs. I'm pondering over the whole design as this is a tight space.

Would anyone like to help with an actual design? I have a carpenter who would do any built-in work.

I would do a built in cabinet between the wall and hearth with doors that open to shelving beneath….this holds your electronics. If you put wire mesh or cloth on the doors your remotes should be fine to signal the boxes. I’ve had several iterations of this and the ones that usually are trouble are full “wood” doors that can block the signal. I am not sure that an articulating arm will work here if the tv is wall mounted (your carpenter or an electrician should be able to drop the wires through the wall to hide them for a wall mount) because there is some depth to that space and not sure the person at the right end of the couch will see tv very well even at an angle. I think your idea of floating shelves above tv and not sure what below will look busy. Simple is best.

You’ll also want to balance the hearth area with something on the right…..a tall plant or the 2 pretty samplers over a small table?

Hide cords and cables in a channel piece painted to mach the wall. Alternately, you could feed the cords through the wall. Check with local appliance sellers for wireless options so you only need the power cord and maybe connectors for additional speakers. I abhor masses of cords, even if hidden - look like snake pits lol

It looks like you might be able to easily mount the TV on the wall where you currently have it on an articulating arm so you can pull it off the wall and angle it. We think adding a console underneath might work well and then a large piece of artwork over the fireplace. Here is an image which might help more:

Where u have ur sofa, it looks like it’s hard to see the tv. We have a frame tv mounted over the fireplace and the arrangement works fine. Plus you can customize the art, so it looks great even when the tv is off. Best of luck.

Would suggest sofa facing the fireplace and built is on the side(s) you could mount the tv on the wall inside the cabinet to pull out if desired. Agree

If you have a carpenter, talk to him about a custom corner cupboard/cabinet for that corner. It could come out as far as the window on the left and as far as the fireplace or further on the right.
