Very dry here too. Driest of the year. Typically, there is less precipitation in September/October, but this is less than normal. Blue Swallowtail looks good, but I notice that Blue Swallowtail is one that Laura pictured from her garden and now no longer lists. So many Gossards grow like weeds. Some don't. Will be interesting to see how it does for you.

Very beautiful seedling! Jewel is nice too.

It has been dry a couple of weeks here too.

I like a large bloom as long as the petals have the substance to support themselves and don't melt out in the sun. Your red one is a nice one...........Oklahoma is in a bad way from drought this year. Currently our area is rated severe but it's headed towards the extreme designation if we don't get some rain soon. Ranchers and farmers are having a very hard time of it this year. My heart goes out to them...............Maryl

It is so nice to see a few blooms in your garden. Thats a lovely photo of Blue Swallowtail. Interesting statement from Mantis about Gossard plants. Gossards have done really well here……however I just discarded Blue Beetle. Only two fans at the four year mark, few blooms.

Lovely color on the seedling-and still a good size even with limited rain. Jewei of Tavares is putting out some pretty blooms. I have only a few blooming now. Still some scapes putting up- I may cut them.

Kate - I can never bring myself to cut the scapes. In the past I've had daylilies bloom in October, November and even one planted next to the house in December.

Maryl - I'm so sorry about your state's worsening drought. Nashville has had plenty of rain in the southern half this year, so we are not officially in any kind of drought territory. Counties to the east and south of us have had more rain than normal. It's just my area that keeps getting bypassed.

Sherry - Some Gossards are definitely more vigorous than others. While most grow like gangbusters, there are a couple that I couldn't even keep alive.

Brad and Mantis - There was rain all through Middle Tennessee yesterday, but here we got barely a trace. All week the forecast has called for rain today, but now they have backed off that forecast. After a rainier than normal July, my piece of Nashville is now bone dry again. I've been trying to dig clumps the past few days, but the ground is so hard and dry it's almost impossible.

Kay - I'm hoping both of us will get some of that Hurricane Ian rain, but the trajectory now looks like it will just go up the east coast.

Julia - Thanks for your comments! This week night temps are in the 40s, so I don't know that any of the seedlings that haven't started their reblooms yet will be able to open properly. I know the others didn't care much for the overnight low of 55.
