You could make the plant much more full and compact if you pinch it, and it doesn't jeopardize the plant at all. Examples of pinched plants:

left - mini-jade, middle - 4 species of mint ^^^

and you can probably easily root the pieces you cut or pinch off ... though for that purpose.. you are usually better off cutting.rather than squishing it ...
