I need a bit of context like pics of the space where it is showing your furniture to give a bit of an idea of your style and also where this is in the space . Is it gas or wood too.

It's not terrible with the wall color, but you have those nice warm floors so maybe say goodbye to what looks like grey on the walls? And yes, what's the rest of the space and what is your style?

It would be helpful to have a photo of the back and all sides of the FP. Looking closer, not sure if it is free-standing.

Thanks for the comments. It is not freestanding. I’m posting 2 other photos. It is a living room space with mirrors on one wall. 😬you can see how the walls of the fireplace go back to dining room on one side. Other side is similar. I’m really stumped.

The window coverings will be removed. This is a condo that is going to be sold, so no furniture.

I'd paint the fireplace wall a few shades darker to blend with the tile.

If you are selling the condo do not bother to update the fireplace. It's fine as is. Let the new owner decide what is best for them.

The tiles don't appear the cheapest - do you like them at all?

With help, maybe you'd find a dark neutral with similar characteristics, and use in a design for part of it, maybe just the horizontal. This says medium sheen with slight texture, just example.

I wouldn't do it either to sell. I just bought a house where I hated the fireplace and we were able to choose our own look (before and after pics below)

I totally agree with others … no need to change it. There’s no way to know what a future buyer will like or not like, and it’s nicely neutral and unobtrusive as is.

I actually think it’s pretty cool looking myself.

Leave the tile but add simple surround and mantle to make it more of a focal point.
