Hi @Austin when you put the @ in front the text should turn green to show that a user’s name has been properly linked. It sends an email to ONLY the person you are trying to reach. Sometimes it doesn’t work…as a long time user of Houzz, you must know things don’t always work properly here!

Looking for others similar to my Dark Lady

I didn’t grow any of the romantic-formed reds in Dallas, but when I visited the rose gardens at Farmer’s Branch, I was always impressed by Munstead Wood. I don’t think they took the best care of their roses, so Munstead looking so good is impressive. The one thing that kept me from growing MW was that I heard it had very short vase life, but I decided to bite the bullet here in CA and just ordered him.

I thought all their other Austin reds looked quite pitiful!\

If you don’t require a romantic bloom form, I’m very impressed by Loves Promise. Excellent garden performance, strong fragrance, super long lasting, and the richest velvet red. Good fragrance and vase life don’t seem to come thogether , especially not for red roses, so that makes LP sort of a unicorn.

It is the form that adds to my love….
Do yourself a favor Ben and stick in a Dark Lady. I know I am like a broken record on her but next year you will be thanking me. Not a single feature of Mun Wood that Dark L doesn’t do better. I PROMISE! Smell, size, bloom frequency, bloom color retention, vase life, cane strength, health. I grew several plants of both. Oh DL blooms continually in semishade, only rose I had that would and I tried all the shade tolerant varieties. Look at my Coral Bells planted around her and even hosta behind.
Straw has a large OR. I did not have success with OR but she swears it is great.

However, Mun Wood gives that black red and if you want that then Mun your guy. Smaller flowers on Mun always, spring and summer. Mun did keep color in Dallas heat.

Way to go Ben and Rose! I only stressed so strongly because I know from reading about other roses you like (Ben and Rose) that the Lady will surprise and delight you. She may not be your favorite as she is mine (we all like different roses for that position) but I KNOW she will reward you with huge, continual, sweet smelling blooms and someday I will get a thank you here💕💕😍
Bring her blooms inside they last forever in clean water. Guest always comment on her fragrance when placed by the guest room bed.
