Quiet. The best way to get quiet is a multistage/modulating furnace. They tend to be better made and run at low speed most of the time. They are also the most expensive.

Most of the noise comes from air velocity in the ductwork.

Other than that, they are all pretty much the same at any given price point.

Do you advise on a specific brand or advise against a specific brand? So many reviews and opinions, not getting a good review on any one brand. None of the parts are made in U.S. either, so I guess that's not an option to go by either.

There is no best gas furnace. Even if there was, if it is the incorrect size or not installed properly it will not work well. The better known brands are Carrier/Bryant, Trane/American Standard, Rheem/Rudd These are sister brands, most models are available with either label. Lennox, York, and Goodman are other brands to consider. Find the brands which are popular in your area, and then find which are the good installers.

Ignore the reviews on different brands. They are either glorified dealer/distributor/manufacturer advertising or uninformed opinions from homeowners who are really commenting on the quality of the installation.

There's little or no difference between brands, only differences in features of individual units. What determines a reliable product is the installation.
