It's a mini dendrobian I purchased a few years ago. I mounted it on a cork slab, mist it every day and it's very happy. Unfortunately it isn't fragrant.

The only things blooming here right now are multiflora, nummuraloides, and burtonaie aff. They seem to bloom off and on year round.

I just got a cutting of one of my last "wishlist" hoyas, hoya cv Chouke. But I am tempted to import a huge one that I saw on Etsy. Cuttings are great, but they take so long to grow for me!

Popmama, that dent will be like that for a number of weeks. Very long lasting flowers.

I too have multiflora in bloom, it seems to be constantly blooming, and dripping nectar. I also have burtonaie in bloom as well. It also is a constant bloomer. In fact, it's the cutting you sent me.

I really love tending to these guys, but do find it more difficult watering in the winter and indoors. Outside, they just get sprayed down and will dry out within a day or so, but inside I find I tend to over water sometimes.

@Meyermike(Zone 6a Ma.) No I keep them inside year round. 40% humdity. Most of my hoyas are in coco chips. I do have some in soil, perlite, and bark mix. I really like the coco chips and have had good success in rooting hoyas in it. Tiki, I ask because your plants are always so flawless and always in bloom which leads me to suspect that they like one spot and that's it.

I really don't think most don't like being moved around so much and I find that after bringing them from outside, they all hate it!!! The leaves get yellow until they adjust and they seem to hate the disturbance which is why I think mine are just not flowering.

They spend the fall and winter growing and if there are any buds, they fall apart and dry up.

I found that the ones that I kept inside in the same spot are doing great and flowering.

Don't get me wrong, I think many do like being outside, but they get so spoiled out there they hate me for it so show signs of sulking for weeks.

Then there are the bugs one has to worry about on top of that

While outside they perform so well and that is it.

What happens after that is a nightmare except the ones left inside.

This isn't the obavata but the shrively noid in the background, where the arrow is. The white things in the cub at the bottom are eggshells in order to add a little calcium to the roots.

I also have multiflora in bloom, as well as odorata. I think the summers outside really instill a lot of vigor into the plants, then after bringing them inside to over winter, they just explode in blooms. Have any of you found the same thing happening?

Mike, I'd love a fragrant orchid. What's the name? Send me an email if you'd like. The orchids seem to love this location. This is a dendrobium miniature that I've had for several years. It doesn't grow fast at all, and is very stingy in producing offshoots, but as you can see, the blooms are spectacular. Unfortunately, they are not fragrant. I mounted it on a cork slab years ago and it is only sprayed / misted every other or third day.

Tika, I'll post a pic of the nummularoides later. I'll try to get a close up of the blooms this afternoon.

I was going to e-mail you but I figured it easier to tel you the names of those plants with the links above on that post.

If you click those links it will take you to the sites of what the orchids look like and the names.

The best was to get those dendrobiums to flower is to leave them out in your greenhouse when it gets very cold for as long as you can until they get close to freezing, Leave them dry too. Once the bud developer, then bring them inside to enjoy.

Because you are rooting them I would just leave them inside to promote growth first then next year promote flowering although who knows one or two may put out flowers anyways)

The jades I will get the names of. The bigger leaf one is called the 'maruba' from Germany.

It turns color as it gets cooler and the sun directly hits in both in spring and fall,

Reverts back to green in summer when inside when warm but will stay colorful under lights.

Mike, et al, one of my mini orchids finally bloomed this year. I've had this orchid for maybe 2+ years now, and it finally decided to puch out a bloom. I am really happy about it. It's maybe only an inch or so in size, but perfect form. I mounted it on a piece of cork bark I had and initially wrapped the roots in sphagnum. It's misted maybe every other, third day. The roots have long ago grown into the bark so it's self supporting now.

The ones I sent you will do great if you can do that.

I spray them every two or three days to the point of the medium dripping. The ones you sent are potted up in pots now, but I'll be visiting Pet Smart next week to pick up some cork bark. They sell it for lizard tanks, but I just cut it up into the size I need and use it for my plants. It works great and at times is a lot cheaper than purpose bought cork. I also mixt up a very weak solution of DynaGrow fertilizer and spray all the plants, hoyas included, once a month. In fact, I now had a dracinia blooming. I'll post a pic tomorrow. Those plants are so fragrant that my entire house smells of the perfume, and it lasts for over a week too!

Hey Mike - I must be doing something right. The crassula you shared with me has a few flowers starting to open! I am amazed as I don't think they have any roots yet. Apparently they like it on my windowsill. I water these guys maybe twice a week because they dry out very quickly since the "soil" is very porous and water flows right through it. They get maybe ten squirts with a spray bottle, and it seems to work. I can't wait till they take root and really take off in growth. Whoopee!

How is your draceana flowering!!! ?? How old is it ? Do you put it outside ? Where inside ? I would die if any of mine did that. I miss the one I had grafted that did that just once and died that summer. The fragrance was to die for. I know even know where to get any that flower so young

Mike - all my dracinias go outside under a tree for the summer. They'll go out around mid to end of May, then back in sometime in September / October depending on the weather. Only one is flowering now, and it's a small one too! When they get too big, I chop up the "trunk", put it in water and it'll root. I usually end up with too many then, so I'll give some of them away. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason as to which flowers. Sometimes the very old (as in 20+ years) will flower, but this time it's one that is only two years old and the older more mature ones are just watching like a loving parent and coaching him along! They are so fragrant that I can't imagine what it would be like if two or more bloomed at the same time. It would literally be overpowering. They do get fertilized every month while outside, in fact, all my plants do. Now for the winter, I will continue to fertilize monthly but with a drastically dilute solution. Come spring my friend, I will ship one to you. No problem.
