I like the way your fireplace wall turned out too. You can put one large or 2-3 smaller pieces of art over the sofa. If you're really creative, a gallery wall. You can do a gallery wall with shallow shelves so you can change things out easier. If this is your family room, family pictures are appropriate. You can mix them with art if you want. I wouldn't put anything breakable or heavy on shelves over a sofa. You don't want to bean the person sitting there if something fell off. :-)

I would do a large piece of art, something calm and not too busy.

Artwork. Look at art,com and great if canvas.com for tons of larger paintings, photos and posters. Nice job on the shelving/fireplace wall!

Thank you all for your great suggestions!

A wall that long needs art, keep it an odd number, 3 or 5.  I love the idea of large family photos, the space needs something of you in there.

Greatbigcanvas.com & art.com are great. Etsy has lots of original artwork, too.

Thank you for the photo of your cute dog! You have two beds for two dogs? What about photos of them on the walls? Your kids or grandkids will love it!

Some artwork might work really well over your sectional. Here are two designs we have done for our clients. Please take note of the artwork in both.
