IMO outlets should be as invisible as possible and Lutron makes some really nice outlet and covers in color to work with a huge choice of background. The screwless type do not seem crazy expensive in white so if that is the color you are using might as well go screwless

It can be finicky to get screwless plates to sit flush. You may have to adjust or shim the switch/outlet, or trim joint compound or plaster / drywall that's in the way. And everything needs to line up perfectly when the cover snaps in place. I had a few that were pressing up against the bezel around the rocker switch and causing it to hang up. I had to remove them, trim the drywall a bit and readjust.

Regular screw covers are super easy. Screwless covers are more time consuming to install, and the cost difference isn't insignificant if you're doing the whole house. I also found that some of the brands don't match the color of the rocker switch or outlet (we have white). So find one brand that matches and stick with it.

I got a few rooms into replacing everything in our house, and elected to use screwless covers only for light switches and left the regular ones for outlets. I installed the screwless covers using outlet shims, a razor blade (for removing compound / wallbaord), and a level. The end result looks very nice, but plan on spending some time to get them looking perfect.

Thanks for the detailed input! My contractor will be doing it. Sounds like I should stick with the screwed ones or like you, only use the screwless for certain spots
