Help with bedroom layout !

Hi everyone

ive been a part of houzz community for over 8 years and i am looking forward to know your opinion on my issue

i recently rented an apt and have been struggling to find a right spot for my bed and desk

i have a 14x16 feet bedroom with 2 east facing windows, 1 door to the patio on the south, 2 closets on the north wall and the entry to the room on the west wall

i love a sun in my face moment in the morning so i was hoping to accommodate that in my layout but its kinda hard

please let me know what your thoughts are as to the best spot for my bed, desk and the carpet

thank u so much in advance. feel free to ask questions

attaching couple of pictures below for the layout and some options

I don't like beds under a window, glass is cold not comfy. I like the plan with the bed on the West wall facing East, you can watch the sunrise.

The area with the compass is your dressing area with a comfortable ottoman, chaise or Barcelona bench. Hang or lean a full length mirror on the North wall and with some clothes hooks on the wall nearby.

The East wall between the windows is for a painting. The South wall for a tall dresser. The desk stays where it is. So does the rug.

    This is a concept:

Whybeam, do you WFH? If so, I think there needs to some sort of separation between your work space & your resting space… unless there is somewhere else in your home you can put your desk? I’m guessing not, so I would say either #2 or #3, BUT with some sort of screen at the foot of your bed so you can’t see your work zone at all. You have enough light with all of your windows… can you create a visual barrier with tall plants, screens, curtains? Can you access the patio from another room in your house? If it was my space and I absolutely had to have my work space in my bedroom & worked from home, I would create a “wall” around office area, get up in the morning, leave the bedroom & then re-enter the office through the patio door…

I agree, and I assumed there was no way to make space in the common areas where the desk could go. Get the desk out any way you can manage, your bedroom should be a retreat.

Search for images with "feng shui infographics bedroom" in your favorite engine. I attach an example

I like your last layout. You will be able to see out the patio and out the windows when you wake. And if you work from home, you can angle your camera so that your zoom view doesn’t include your bed.

Optimal secure restful sleep is attained when the bed is opposite the door. Your floor plan doesn't seem to be oriented NSEW. If I am correct, your bed should go between the windows on the South wall (which you say is East.) So the second floor plan would be my choice, moving the desk to another location or opting for a rolling bed desk if you don't actually work from home. If you like the sun on your face, then place the bed opposite those windows as in your last floor plan, but I would put the desk between the windows.

The right spot for your desk is in another room! The bedroom is not the place to work!

I like the 3rd layout best. It seems to be a good balance of 2 "heavy" pieces, the bed on the long wall, and the desk past it in the corner. If you don't feel there is room for a divider, you might consider covering your work area with a cheerful sheet or lightweight bedspread, so it doesn't intrude on your peaceful/sleep space. Choose one that looks good with the bed covering, so when it is over the workspace, it converts the feel to the bedroom. Turn the chair away from the desk, and you can sit with a good book, or some other quiet activity when the computer isn't on. Also, I have found that shutting the computer down keeps me from feeling that I must get up and check out every little "ding" when I should be at rest.
