Would you use a second closet? Can you show us the whole room so we can see what you're working with?

If you are a reader, then this is the perfect place for comfy chair and ottoman. But if that isn’t your thing, what is? Do you need a desk area? Or is it the added closet that you most need?

We’re in our early 30s with 2 kids.. we both work from home but dont beed a workspace in the bedroom or a reading area. I keep thinking of a closet with a vanity by the window but am not sure how to design it

Is there any activity or hobby you'd like to keep in your space away from the kids? A quiet retreat for sipping coffee or tea, listening to music, doing yoga, drawing, or whatever activity you might like could be nice. If you don't have anything like that, you certainly could use it as additional closet space or a "dressing room" where you might store clothing but also have somewhere to try on outfits, last minute iron/steam touchups, etc. Dressers or wardrobes would look nice and provide additional clothing storage.

I love having a well-lit makeup station outside of the bathroom where I can sit to apply makeup (usually while listening to something on my iPad. You might try using the wall unit as a makeup station. Use the pullout shelf in the center with a pretty chair or ottoman. Remove some of the center shelves and place a large mirror there, along with your lighted makeup mirror. Store makeup items in adjacent cupboards or in pretty containers on shelves. After you’ve lived in the space for a while, you will know whether the wall unit works for that purpose or not. Hard to find photos, but here are a few concepts:

Congrats! Great to have the extra space. What can you do with it? Many things. What should you do with it? Depends on your needs. What do you need in the house the most? An extra closet? Nursery? Exercise room? Craft room?

There is also resale. If you are planning on selling in the next few years, you'd have to think about the best use of the space for that. You could wall off the room and make it generic.

How large is the other closet and what do you need as far as an extra room?

I'm in agreement with the other poster who suggested that you live in the house for a while before making your decision. If, after a while, you don't care for or use your nook then yes to creating a second walk-in closet - maybe his and her closets?

IMO a nice dressing room for me would be the first thing I would think of . I do agree to wait until you are in before worrying too much about how to use it. I have had a nice sitting space in 2 bedrooms in my life and never used either for reading and what I found is the chairs just were a easy place to throw clothes. I would not do a workout space in my bedroom just like I would not put an office in there. You will know once you live there .

Another vote to wait. Buy the house, live in it and the space will tell you what you need. A second closet is never a waste of money, but maybe the open space will appeal to you in a new way. Congratulations on the new house!
