I’m getting ready to replace the old tile in our new old house. I definitely want subway tile, not anything trendy or statement-y. Photos taken in natural and artificial light. The kitchen tends to be dark after early morning as the only windows face east.

The bottom tile I think is too similar to the cabinet color. The top gray tile is too dark in natural light when under the wall cabinet. The off-white tile is light and brighter than the old tile, and I’m leaning toward that one.

Not sure if I should go with all 3x6 which is a more classic look, or with the varied sizes as on the sample board. Opinions? Or should I go with a different color altogether? I’m thinking that a neutral color will not interfere with a future change in cabinet color or make an already busy counter area any more visually chaotic. TIA as I once took seven years to choose wallpaper.
