What do you need the coverings for ? IMO no window treatment with that view Do you actually get the sun for more than maybe an hour? What do you need for the night ? Is see acovered porch type area and honestly cannot see the need for window coverings.

I would love to not have a window treatment but we do need a bit of privacy at night mostly. There are apparently boaters at night sometimes and with lights on I'm afraid you would be able to see right in. Thats why I was leaning towards sheers. I appreciate the questioning as it makes me think we should wait until we move in and actually observe things.

Roll down solar shades would be a solution.

There are percentage levels of how much "openness" there is in the weave, usually from 1% t0 10%

@everdebz, I'm not sure what you mean by folding. If I did sheers, I was thinking they would stack in the space between the windows, therefore exposing the whole window when open.

yes, i was worried that they may not fit in that space.

I think moving all fabric away from glass would let vibe and view be all open.

And If door has dusty breeze, fabric hanging at the floor might also get dusty...

I doubt there is enough boat traffic at night to make privacy an issue in the great room.

You're probably right about night boat traffic @ShadyWillowFarm. Maybe I should just use tensions rods and sheers when we go out of town, I have storage room for that. I have to convince my husband!
