Shaker cabinets never go out of style, IMO. And if they are made with good quality wood, they'll last a good long time. The beauty of Shaker is they can go either more modern or more traditional, depending on what other materials you pair with them. I'm not a huge fan of glossy Euro slab cabinets. If you're going to go slab, do them in a beautiful natural wood with a pretty grain pattern, like walnut, for example.

If you prefer Shaker, you could split the difference and get Shaker doors with a 1" stile/rail which gives it a more modern look. We did that in two bathrooms for a recent client:

My previous house had white Shaker cabinets installed in 1997. I am planning on remodeling my kitchen in my current house in 2025 and I will probably get white Shaker. So I agree with Sabrina, they're timeless. What style is your house? Unless it's modern, the European style flat panel doors will be inconsistent with the style of your house. Shaker is a more adaptable style.

You can buy either type of cabinet at a wide variety of price points. The lifetime of cabinetry depends partly on how much you spend (high cost doesn't always mean high quality, but low cost will pretty much always mean low quality) and how you treat them. I have seen 25 year old cabinets that looked brand new, but kids in general are hard on everything in your house. People on this forum do have opinions on brands, so if you are considering a particular brand, you can ask for comments. Don't neglect to visit local cabinet makers if there are any where you live as some of them have good products and you won't have to pay for a brand name.

Thank you for your responses . We will start looking for cabinets in next couple of months . Currently finishing up some other renovations in the house . I think once I start looking around for kitchen Cabinets at local stores I will have more idea about price range , durability etc.

I run a catering biz from my home this is my kitchen with high gloss white cabinets mixed with some stainless 15 yrs old all look like new and they get used sometimes 6 people in the kitchen working.I really dislke shaker cabinets for my style of home.

Can I ask where did you buy the kitchen cabinets from?
