Small wall TV console

Trying to figure out the best size for a TV console for a small wall. Our wall is 43” and the only TV consoles we can find are 34” or 44”. We’re thinking of getting a 43” TV so it would be ~39” long. Any ideas or advice?

    We are hanging the TV!

Hopefully someone will offer ideas. The only advice I have is the TV shouldn’t be wider than the console. Ideally, the console should be about 25% wider than the TV. I think you can tweak it a bit, but I wouldn’t want the TV wider.

Think outside the box! don't google "TV console", but instead look for ~40" wide bookcases or cabinets.

Before you shop, find out exactly how wide the TV is including the bezel, don't estimate. I wouldn't want it to be even a tiny bit wider than the console. Also, I'd want something that doesn't stick out of the wall very far (but be sure it's deep enough to fit any equipment you have).

Do you need open sections for equipment remotes to "reach", or can it be all closed? Or are you willing to change your equipment? (Some devices are tiny and can be hidden behind the TV, and have remotes that work really well -- like the Fire TV).

This one is 40" wide (but beware, this kind of Wayfair furniture is cheap. Ikea furniture tends to be better quality than some wayfair stuff. but the size is right!)

This one from Joybird is expensive but cute, and might be right at 38" wide and 16" deep (if your TV turns out to be smaller than 39"). If you had a cable box or DVD player, it could go in the top nook.

Thanks for all the help! Need something with drawers/storage because it will be doubling as a dresser. Also, agree with the point about it not being too deep because the space between the wall and couch isn’t that big.

Good suggestion from Seattle regarding being more specific with your search. There should be quite a few options for the right size console.

One more thing to note: we don't have anything under our TV besides vintage speakers. The equipment is in that bookcase off to the left, pushed into the shadows so it's less noticeable. Our Fire TV remote controls everything. Remotes these days have much better range, so you don't have to be stuck having your equipment right under the TV like we used to years ago.

If you wanted to hide your equipment somewhere else and are at a loss as to what to put under your TV, it could be something as simple as a small bench with a basket under and some knicknacks on top. Note they have a wall mounted sound bar under the TV:

(Edit, sorry I didn't see your comment before about needing drawers. Could that drawer unit be off to the side? Or look for a small dresser! Check vintage and consignment stores too, you never know!)

There are many different items you can look up to use as a TV console. You could try looking at bookcases, dressers, or nightstands/side tables. All of those should have plenty of height and width options for you to choose from.
