UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. The general consensus is that I should not put a tall cabinet there. I'm currently looking into shallower wall storage options. Montana Møbler makes some attractive albeit $$$ entryway storage solutions (e.g. shoe cabinets, wall-mounted drawers and cabinets, and shelving). Or a floating nightstand from Wilbur Davis Studios.

Greetings!

My design dilemma concerns the size and placement of a cabinet beside my front door (see photo). The cabinet would go in front of the light switches, so my plan is to install in-wall smart dimmer switches and mount the switch remote on the side of the cabinet.

I have two questions: (1) How much space is needed between the edge of the door frame and the side of the cabinet? And (2) How much space is needed between the top of the cabinet and the lower edge of the light fixture?

In addition to the reference photo, I've attached a document that contains all the relevant measurements.
