Can you stand back and get a picture of the entire foyer?

It can work in some cases, but it depends on certain things.

These work well because they aren’t in a big open space by themselves, have rugs nearby, and other details. It’s all cohesive.

Just need more context to see about yours. :)

My initial thought is that you could maybe add another piece of art to the left of them … but I’m not positive of scale yet (how much wall is between console and front doors).

One thing you could do if it’s feeling too bare is add a chair or chairs. You could bring in a couple of dining chairs (or just one) just to experiment and get an idea. It might balance how top heavy the decor currently is.

Otherwise, I think it looks fine and might just add more art to that wall. I’d have to have a rug, though! :)

Omg! I’ve been researching small chairs just this second!! I found some small benches that have gold legs. And I also found a small contemporary gold bench that would work because of my gold contemporary etageres a bit further down!
And we also thought about leaving it alone. Maybe add a lamp and take away flowers or photos.

Here are two white fuzzy benches to give an idea of what it would look like with benches. Or I can exchange the big painting with the painting across the hall on the right.

My thoughts — it’s always hard to tell with just photos, but I think the benches are too low. And a taller bench might compete with the size of the chest. Do you have any chairs you could try? Or one chair?

I wouldn’t put the painting on the other wall.

I think it’s a matter of playing around with different things, or living with it as is for a bit to see what you think.

Do you have any extra dining chairs? Get two of them on either side of your foyer console. I like your artwork and the console. As people are suggesting here, you need MORE in that space. Nothing spindly or metal. Wooden dining sized chairs, preferably with upholstered seats that will bring some of the color of the painting to the fore. Also, a rug. Give it a try with what you have, first, before you purchase anything. (I use my extra dining chairs on either side of my dining room sideboard and placed elsewhere in my home. My dining table can expand to seat 12 but I have it reduced to seat 6 people most times.)

I think flanking it with upholstered chairs might be the ticket. Put some dining chairs or bar stools next to the console and take a pic.

Dining chair on right of first photo looks too big. ( I do have extras of these.)

Card table chair shown for size is probably a better size.

Second photo is my husband’s work of adding a tall plant. If I did this, I’d get blue plant holder.

And third photo is a longer console (with needed storage drawers) from John Richards$$$$….. could find another, I’m sure.

I would hang this painting in different spot and use mirror instead.

There is a floor mirror across from the painting.
