I love green but those look rather cool next to the countertop. Consider a white that compliments countertop then add warm green/grey accents. Could look nice with black knobs you have.

I have dark oak cabinets and I lived how the wood looks next to BM pure white.

Thr string wood tones work better with a stronger color partner. Those are just washed out and uncomplimentary to the wood.

existing blue is nicer. stay in that area..go a little lighter ......really whoever picked it did a nice job...... "robins egg blue." it complements the cabinets and works better w the counters than the celery. otherwise..as Roarah shows with plain white or off white. note the pale blue works well w wood.

I would paint the walls a nice white such as BM Simply White, and do the sage green in the accessories such a the striped Ikea roman shade on the window and a sage and white mat on the floor (Amazon).

I find the 3-light fixture a bit heavy and bathroom looking above the window so I show a swing-arm sconce.

We had white before and wanted some color, but I don't think I picked the perfect blue. Hate to go from colorful to blah. Was originally thinking white but it just seems so boring. I know the kitchen in the post has white walls, but they at least have shiplap which makes it more interesting. That is not in the budget, and we have a very open concept house. The wall which is shown in my current picture is actually 35' long and is also part of the living room.

More pictures of the current kitchen. It doesn't look as bad in photos but it's definitely a brighter blue than I thought. Also included a picture of the new flooring, which will be throughout the whole house. We have already purchased the flooring so please don't suggest anything different.

With all the wood your have (even new wood floor) and grey counters I think your "Happy Place" would look happier in a nice creamy white. Maybe you didn't have the right white before? and accessories are important.

You also seem to have a lot going on at the top of the cabinets and on countertops. I would suggest decluttering and bringing your green in decorative items, even a white bowl with green apples does the trick!

I find that the white works. Buying the right kind of paint is key. Many are very washable. Accessories will bring in lots of color. Some suggestions....The "Oh Happy Place" is white. Change this out for big bold colorful art and Add some bold pattern Drapes. White is not boring if the right accessories are put in place.

I'm sorry, I certainly didn't mean to offend you, I've had 2 kids and we were both working as well so I know what it's like.. Trays are for some a way of keeping stuff organized on a counter, maybe that would help.

the paint color on walls is a minor thing. you can trouble yourself or not...but I can see a few other things more worth the while. the ceiling maybe needs good ceiling paint and I would add top of wall trim at the ceiling junction. [the space is traditional / trim will be the correct detail] maybe some top of cab trim. the ceiling lighting whether you do canned reccessed lights or a new central fixture could be improved...maybe along w under cab task lighting. some great mats/runners [beautiful and durable ] always enhance a space to a degree. If you take a lighter shade of the blue it actually makes the painting easier . but I would look to some other things. what about backsplash..can the strip come off and you pay someone to install a splash? with a young family think of things w high value for the effort.....if the paint NEEDED to be done is one thing ..but recently applied that? Maybe the shadowy feel in the space has more to do w lighting [ my hunch ] .....shown here cabs w a little more on the top edge and also molding at wall/ceiling junction.....your cabs are nice enuf to get some trim work....esp if no big remodel in the near term.... I think you'd like the feel with finishing it off a little more. the basic oak w provincial stain that you have is not difficult.

I think if you go that dark, your kitchen may look muddy. You can have the paint place make those colors lighter.

I like the color you have. White is recommended now for everything, and it is downright boring. Your lighting appears a bit on the yellow side, could that be whats bothering you. You may want to try led daylight type bulbs, in at least 3500 range. It will be a whiter light. It may just change the appearance of the entire room.

Granted that I am not in your space, but from your photos, the greens posted don’t work well with the counter color.

Sounds like the blue was painted recently after the white. Instead of repainting, if you accessorize, it can work and look nice. You can install a glossy metro style white backsplash (or peel & stick if you can't handle installing tiles), a white roman shade, replace your lighting for an updated look and a 5 or 6-light tracklight to increase lighting in the room. I also show a colourful, and most important, practical runner. I have one and love it!

I don't like any of your green choices with your cabinets, never mind your counter. Green accentuates the orangey tone of the wood. I am NOT saying there's anything wrong with your cabinets, I think they're quite nice, it's just that I wouldn't advise green with that color stain. I really don't like the blue you currently have, either.

I also think the major problem is lack of cohesiveness -- you have cabinets with a strongly warm tone, a cool-toned grey counter, and color on the walls that doesn't relate to anything else creates a visual jumble. I know you don't want blah, but sometimes adding color isn't the answer to the problem. Find a neutral with an undertone that coordinates with a fixed element in the room, either the counter or the wood tones. A soft off-white that is able to marry the counters with the cabinets is probably your best bet here. But is not going to be easy to find -- if you're up for it, money well spent would be changing the counters to a warm tone (or even a creamy white) to better coordinate with the wood.

Okay, so it sounds like green is out. Any suggestions on the "perfect" white that would tie together the warm cabinets and cool countertops?

I can’t really tell on my monitor. Is your countertop gray or more of a taupe? I don’t really care for true white walls myself. It is a trend I hope dies soon. Lol.
