I do not care for illuminating a house so it can be seen at night. Lights at entryways are sufficient and people can wait until daylight hours to see a house.

Will the lights keep the people in those gable bedrooms awake?

Green, and on timers to turn off 10:00pm-ish. Light pollution's impact on pollinators is real. Over-ride the automatic turn-off for special nights. And the red locations would be awful, as already pointed out.

If I do the green. For the garage I have 2 sconces going right underneath on the outside of each garage door basically below the green. Would that be silly?

I wouldn't do lights over the scones on garage. No need to emphasize your garage.

Please don't do soffit lighting. Lighting up a house is OK for the Biltmore Estate and Windsor Castle but soffit lighting for regular homes looks cheap because it IS cheap to do. Put sconces on the side of the garage doors (you could also do a third sconce between the two garage doors, if you like) and one (or two, if you have the room) next to the front door and back doors, by patios doors to decks, walkouts, etc. Plan ahead to get the correct size of fixture and work with your electrician to make sure the electrical boxes are installed at the correct height for the fixtures. Then, if you have the budget, spend the money for strategically placed post lamps (pick a fixture style that has both sconces and post lights available) along the drive, at the street, etc. depending on the length of the drive, size of your lot, etc. Use bulb wattages that provide enough light for safety but don't over do it - you don't have to light up the area around the house like it's a railroad yard. Your house will then look classy.

@Panda Bear yes but there is a new home in my neighborhood (no photo because I thought it would be rude to include a photo of a home of someone I knew) with soffit lights in the "red" locations you are considering, and it's the talk of the town...and not in a good way. They look like spotlights shining at each other in all the peaks of the house. Turned an attractive home into a "What were they thinking??" situation!

I appreciate your comment! I’m doing the flats “green” in the picture. But I guess my now concern is I have bought coach lights for each side of the garage now. They are 18 inches long. Do you think it will still look good? This is the picture of the light
