Yes Ingrid, I do have this rose from Burling. I always loved yours. Mine is not that large yet. While you are ordering from Burlington, maybe you should get The Faun too, which is right up your alley.

I would pot them to grow them up a bit before they go in the ground. I knew this helped in cold areas, but it may help just as much in very hot areas.

Thank you all so much, all. I believe I got mine from either Heirloom Roses or Rogue Valley Roses but they no longer carry it. I really appreciate knowing that Burling has it. I wonder if she is the last nursery to carry it in the US. I must have had just the right conditions for her because as I recall it grew quite quickly against my house wall, in a narrow bed and not great soil. I wonder if she thrives on adversity. One year when we must have had good rainfall she looked like this:

Sheila, I actually had The Faun at one time and it was beautiful but it stayed very short, which may be because it was in a bad spot. My soil looks really denuded right now and the roses will have lean rations, I'm afraid. With the drought and my wimpiness, having roses may be an exercise in futility, but the prospect of having something green and flowery is still a very pleasant one. . I won't know until I try it!

How interesting, I wrote a paragraph after the picture and it did not post. I just said to Sheila that I had The Faun once and it was very pretty but it stayed very short. Given everything, I'm thinking I'd better not add more roses until I see how this first batch survives. The soil looks really poor now and the roses will have to rough it.

Ingrid, Rogue Valley Roses has Aunt Margy's Rose rose in stock right now.

Hi Ingrid, welcome back! My Aunt Margy’s is also from Burling. She will dry out very quickly in the summer heat, so keep an eye on her (I know you will). She is usually one of the first to do with the spring, and I appreciate that. .There is a slight but definite fragrance as well. A wonderful rose to grow.

Rosylady, I checked Rose Valley Roses yesterday and had to have misspelled the name as I didn't find it. Thanks so much for letting me know they have it.

Sylvia, I do remember the fragrance which goes so well with the small but old rose-looking blooms. If I get her I'll be sure to put her in a spot where the sun isn't blazing down on it all day long. I've found that most of the roses in my hot hillside garden appreciate afternoon shade. At least that was the case two years ago and I suspect it's even more true now.

The gardeners came today and dug huge holes for the roses and planted the three I bought from our local nursery. They'll come back in a few days when my roses from the Texas Rose Emporium have arrived to finish the job.

It‘s great to see you back, Ingrid! Your pics of Aunt Margy’s Rose inspired me to purchase it years ago. I grew it in a pot and it quickly became a favorite. I had to leave it behind with my other roses when moving last year but really need to get it again and overwinter it in the garage. I hope you can get it again as well.

Thank you Dave, it's good to be back. If I do decide to get more roses, Aunt Margy's rose will definitely be on the list. I have some trepidation already as the ground squirrels have dined on the three roses that are planted, including a fat bud on Golden Opportunity. I just wonder if at this stage of drought and scare resources I'm not being unrealastic to think that I can have roses again.

That is so awful that the squirrels are back. We are catching gophers with a Gopher Hawk and I am planting in wire gopher cages now. I also have some cages around small plants.

Warfare is not really my strong suit either.
