I am wondering if your tomatoes were too green. ? I always waited until they started turning to a lighter green, maybe even with a touch of pink. ( I LOVE Fried Green Tomatoes.)

I think your diverticulitis might have been caused by too-green tomatoes because I know I have to watch not to have too many hot green peppers or else mine flares-up, so why not somwthing in green tomatoes. And, I can’t eat green bell peppers at all; once they’re red all is fine, just not green. They are all the same family.

Thanks CA Kate. Yes, these were very immature. I don't think it actually caused the diverticulitis, but may have tipped it over the edge. Now I know to avoid the too-little-and-green ones in the future. I just hate wasting anything. I've been throwing them into the woods and/or the compost. I wonder if animals will start showing up at my door and complaining of tummy aches ;).

Sadly, I do believe it is the seeds from the tomato's that cause the flair up and distress because they get caught in the pockets of the intestines until they are forced out. Dr's/Dietitions will caution specific other foods like nuts, lettuce.... It takes a while to figure out everything that impacts this problem.
