Cabinets for kitchen cabinet

Hello: I recently installed new tile and soapstone counters in my cabin. I was going to keep the old cabinets, but get new doors in a simple shaker design. This means I could repaint the boxes and new doors, or keep a natural colored wood (sand and stain). I like wood, but not the orange of these cabinets. Problem with the wood, it may be hard to match.

I was thinking french gray or lamp room gray (Farrow ball) or in a bluish hue of Inchyra blue or oval room. I have included some photos to see your suggestions.... I am also replacing the curtain with doors. Thanks, as always.

Your current kitchen is adorable and on-trend! Why do you want to replace your shaker doors with new shaker doors? The cabinets look great with your existing walls and with the island wood. I really like the new counters and backsplash you did. I even love the curtain below the sink, although you could upgrade it with a fuller pleated curtain. Other than that, I would replace the hardware, putting the knobs in the lower corners of the cabinets. And if you want a change, maybe new pendants, but I don't think it's totally necessary. Do you have lighting under the cabinets? Your space reminds me of spaces that Heidi Callier does; you might get some inspiration from her portfolio.

Your cabinets look fine with the rest of the wood in your cabin. I think painted cabinets wouldn’t work as well; and staining them wouldn’t, either.

Thanks so much! These are good suggestions. I will start with the hardware, and the pendants. Joyce, I am also in the same mind frame. I can't envision the painted cabinets, and the stain does match--even with all the orange....I guess it is the tone of the cabinets I don't like--it's a lot of orang-ey wood. But, then again, it is a cabin....

I also lie the cabinets they way they are. They go really well with the rest of the wood, and the whole thing really suits the cabin. I think painted cabinets here would be out of place.

Your tile and countertops look terrific with the existing cabinets. Great job! As good as the cabinets look with the rest of the space, I sympathize with your wish to change. I hate orange wood. I would want to paint the cabinets to create a more personal, cooler space.

What about painting the cabinets the same soft white that you have on that triangle of staircase wall? You could paint the walls just in the kitchen space the same color, including the slanted-understair wall. I also like the idea of soft sage green cabinets, to keep the cabin/nature vibe. But any green or blue tone might highlight the remaining orange tones.

If you paint I suggest Adagio by Benjamin Moore. It's got a gray/blue feel. I painted my buffet this color and I think it goes well with my orange wood floors that I happen to love.
