Large window project

last modified: 3 years ago

House is 20 years old and the windows falling apart builder-basic. Currently has about 76 windows in the house - some will be consolidated into picture window or sliders in certain areas.

All total we need to get about 70 windows to do the entire house. I have gotten a few options, but wanted some feedback.

1. Andersen Renewal - 165k - the suggested doing it in phases due to the $.

2. Vytex Vendor 1 - started at 97k - came down to 72k

3. Vytex Vendor 2 - 46k

4. Universal Windows Direct - about 75k - not sure what brand these are comparable to. They to have the foam filler/spacers/etc.

5. Small contractor priced out - Andersen, Marvin and Jeldwen (3 options) - all were substantially more than the others. When I asked them about the other options I have, their response is "those other options are the cheapest, worst windows you can buy"

We are in Maryland, close to where Vytek is made.

Any suggestions on how to proceed with this selection process?

Thank you

Roberta
