Above King Bed - advice

I bought these awesome metal gold black long scounce lights for by bed as i didnt want lamps

love them but now i need large art or ? above bed - any suggestions - im leaning towards light weight canvas as it wont fall on us in earthquack …

But do i do 1 big one or three ?

muted tones ?

i plan on getting a large chunky crotchet pillow throw for bed - to anchor and thinking of getting rid of flowers on wall opposite bed and do a collage of vintagetake french farm from north prints ? I like urban barn- pottery barn sort of style - mixed with vintage and farmhouse …

First, paint cords your wall color. Both sconces and TV. I think something more organic and less straight lines would be a nice compliment to your other choices. I see organic pieces on opposite wall try those over headboard with a couple more. 5-7 pieces so it stands up to bed size. Then large art on wall with current 3D pieces. Try looking at on line art stores. Greatbigcanvas, fineartamerica, art.com, iCanvas. Pick something you love!

Something dreamy like this. Art is very personal. Art for bedrooms I like to keep calm and dreamy looking.

So cluster or big art ?

do i have to match carpet colors ?

i feel art makes things busy or competting

so i need muted i guess

You can do interesting arrangement of 3D pieces over headboard. Then on opposite wall one large (60” high x 24”wide) art, picking up blacks and purples or colors you want repeated in the room. Or you could stack two pieces to get the large look you need on that side to balance out barn door size and window. Put some white orchid arrangement on night stand. Here is concept.

The sconces are interesting, but they don’t work in this situation. Since you want to keep the table tops clear, install swing-arm lamps on the walls—but at the approprate height, this time.

Get rid of the shelving unit.

Move the tv to the wall opposite the bed, either mounting it on the wall or placing on top of a chest (if there’s room) or perhaps a skirted rectangular table. If you mount it on the wall, call a professional who can conceal the wiring in the wall (unless you have the skills to do it yourself). If you put a piece under the tv, make sure it’s wider than the tv.

Get ONE nice size piece, Multiples will make clutter. Why is the tv where it is, not a great view? ? Get an electrician, and AV guy in there. You don't need to see tv cord/cable at all ( Ir repeater )

What's behind the barn door? Closet or bath?

I like this hand woven tapestry from TheElfsCloset on Etsy. I looked at those prints from North Prints. I don't think French country farm prints would go with the current decor theme of the room.

That picture from Flo is very nice but I live in earthquake country too, I don't like heavy items above the bed. How do watch the TV like that? Put it in front of the bed.

Leave those big white flowers, they are pretty and soften the room -- like the tapestry does...it comes different sizes.

This piece was just recommended to someone on another thread. I think it suits your space very well.

Is there a reason the T.V. is up so high and to the left? I am getting a crick in my neck just thinking of watching T.V. with that angle.

Does your headboard detach from the frame? If it does, I would look for a taller headboard.

I have the Woodhouse headboard from Jonathan Adler, which would look good in your space in the right color. Wouldn't need any art with a taller headboard.

I like chispa’s idea for that tall headboard. The curves would help to offset all of the rectangular shapes in the room.

It's difficult to objective in one's own space - whether design hobbiest or pro. There's nothing wrong with getting an outside opinion.

Oops, I just noticed Flo's suggestion for the framed art was not for over the bed.

Why not lower the sconces so they are not so dominating? I don't think the lower edge needs to be seen necessarily.

I still don't see farmhouse or vintage theme going on here. It looks modern and minimal.

Put the 3D flowers above the bed. Add something more to them..keep the dimensions going. That barn door is really throwing the room off. I am sure it's been said already. Sometimes working around a PROBLEM is harder than just fixing THE PROBLEM.

IMO those lights are useless for bedside lighting so if you love those a simple piece of art above the bed maybe something .

I live the scounce lights - meant for just nice lighting

i dont want tv across from bed as its a walking by narrow area and i dont like the look of a tv in rooms - but like it incase of company i can go in and hybernate - not an issue as i can lay on bed any direction - haha

i love tv in that spot - its to high due to dresser was there so hubby will lower it and hide cords

i am going to paint the headboard wall i think a darker color ? and get a new headboard

and do ONE piece of art …like ffpalms suggested

thanks everyone will post after pics
