My home suffered wind and water damage from recent hurricane. We are currently in insurance limbo and contractors of all kinds are so busy they don't even want to give estimates. We are not currently living in the house as we know the drywall and insulation in all the rooms needs to be removed (probably up to 4 feet) as well as the bathroom vanities and kitchen cabinets. Also, all of the appliances need to go due to their exposure to salt water. Fortunately, we only had 8 inches of water so the electrical system does not need to be replaced. We are also having to buy pretty much all new furniture. I am wondering in what order we should proceed. Obviously the drywall and insulation need to go first and the vanities and cabinets, but then what? We are planning on installing LVP flooring throughout the home, but should flooring come first or new cabinets? Or wall restoration? The drywall/insulation removal does not include restoration. We were thinking walls replaced so cabinets have a place to attach, but could we install new appliances while waiting so house would be more livable? I am dealing with health issues now as well and am feeling completely overwhelmed. Any advice is welcome.
