This seems a stupid question, but you didn't mention it. Have you watered it ?

I havent watered it, only generously misted the soil.

The poor thing is desperately thirsty. Misting the soil is no use. You need to water the soil thoroughly. Since it is so dry it might be best to water it the first time by standing it in water until moisture appears on the top of the soil. Then let it drain. Thereafter water it by putting it in the sink and pouring water into the pot unti it runs out of the hole in the bottom. Then let it drain.

Ok, i will try that. for some reason i read online to mist it but from now on will try properly waterkng it. i appreciate the advice

when it recovers.. tip the plant out of the pot.. and look at it.. and note that most of the roots are along the sides.. and down in the bottom of the pot ... then slip it back in the pot...

upon contemplation.. you should quickly realize that misting the surface.. was getting no usable water to WHERE THE ROOTS ARE ...

and that was the problem ...

presuming you felt the pot when dry.. now that you watered it.. doesnt the pot feel 2 or 3 times as heavy??? .... that is the weight of the water... let the weight go down half.. then water again.. etc ...

you dont need a gizmo.. or anything else.. to let you know when there is no water weight in your media... and when it gets too bad.. it will wilt and show you that it needs water ...

though i bet you never make this mistake again ... lol

ps: 99% of the time.. misting is useless... if not 100% of the time.. in regards to the water or humidity needs of ANY plant .. in this rare case.. gal suggested such as a proactive thingee for a bug.. soooo.. if you are misting other plants.. its of no use to the plants.. but if it makes you happy... is not a bad thing.. once you understand it isnt necessary ...

I see, as i previously stated, this was my first ivy plant, and i dont have a lot of plant knowledge, so it was hard to gage how much water it needed at first. however thank you for your advice

You”ll get the hang of it! Everyone starts out the same way, making mistakes with their first plant. Hope to see you back here again as your interest grows along with your plant collection.

I gave up on growing ivies as houseplants for the reason gardengal mentioned - they are spider mite magnets. I just put them outside in either giant pots or let them sit on the ground where they root and scramble. Not as bad as English Ivy, but eventually they need to be weed whacked to get them to play nice in a limited space.
