Is the difference between the two significant enough to be worth the difference in price in a small bathroom in a city house?

Lincrusta will hold up forever. Honestly I'm not sure about the Anaglypta. Also there is nothing that is paper in Lincrusta.

My first house had lincrusta on the ceiling. When we moved in, it had been there for well over 50 years.

Does the bathroom have ventilation? would the anaglypta be in direct contact with water (i.e. behind the sink)? i think the anaglypta could work if you prime it well, especially the seams, and use paint designed specifically for bathrooms. i know its used in the UK, but can’t speak to the longevity.

Do you not use Google

Anaglypta is an embossed, hollow paper or vinyl, similar in weight to standard wallpaper, whereas Lincrusta is made from a gelled linseed and wood flour paste, which is pressed onto a heavy backing paper and is solid throughout.

@elunia The bathroom doesn't have ventilation and the paper would be behind the pedestal sink. It does seem like with painting it'll hold up better than regular wallpaper at least. The lincrusta does sound like the better choice, but I think we'll give the anaglypta a try since this isn't a place we plan to stay and the next people may want something different anyway.

@Patricia Colwell ConsultingConsulting I did read about both online, as I mentioned in my original post. I wanted to know practically if there was a big difference worth the price. It sounds like lincrusta is probably a better choice, but not necessarily for our space, especially as we need so little. Thanks.

Hello all! Would love some sage advice. How can I tell the difference between Anaglypta and Lincrusta? I would love advice on how to clean it and I'm not sure if what I'm looking out is just several paint jobs for people who lived here before. Nothing was really well maintained. I don't want to damage it, but I need to improve the look of my entryway. THANK YOU.

What does it feel like when you push on the pattern? Does it "give"? Feel "light"? Or is it almost "solid"?
