I feel the two lamps should be by seating for reading. What would they be lighting on the wall. You don’t need two coffee tables. Perhaps those two chairs could be placed together with a side table between them. Remove the items on top of the curio cabinet.

So what do you want to do? Start over or use what you already have? Is your style Art Deco? That's what I see here. What is your budget? The floor lamps serve no purpose against the wall. The cabinet and shelf unit next to each other doesn't work. Remove everything from the top of the cabinet and from the floor beside it. Is there a TV in the cabinet? If so, I would face one loveseat to it so the loveseats form an L. Then put the chairs side by side facing a loveseat No pillows on the loveseat, they're just in the way. I think you need some caramel color accessories to warm up the space.

You only show photos of one wall with the brown armoire. Please post photos of the other three walls in the room. We can't suggest how to arrange the space without knowing what it looks like.

Offhand I would say that almost everything is pretty much too alike. Same era and same style and same color range. That is what makes it seem lacking. And that there is too much clutter everywhere. And wrong scale. Edit.

There are only 2 walls. One side is open to the foyer, the other open to the dining room and one very small wall is a door to the terrace. As far as scale, I’m in the dark, knowing nothing about it. The foyer has a console and a large armoire. The dining room has a small buffet and a table seating 6. I positioned the loveseats, tables and chairs every which way possible but it still doesn’t work. So distressed over this.

I sketched a rough floor plan, but I need more info as to dining and foyer. If you stand in front of your sofa and take photos all the way around the room, it would be really helpful. To me, it looks like you favor glamourous furnishings with a high sheen and art deco influences. All the individual items are nice, but they're not working together. With a more complete floor plan and photos, I think you will get much more helpful advice.

Depending on floor plan, a few first thoughts are to move the mirror and bench to the foyer. And/or move black armoire, but I'd need to see the large armoire there currently. It's possible that the foyer console could hold the TV - assuming the TV is in black cabinet currently. I like your kidney shaped loveseats - what do you not like about them? The tall lamps with black lampshades are quite grand, and maybe one or both could work in the foyer as a formal entrance. I would most likely look for a different area rug to introduce some non-neutral color into the space. Same with the artwork. But I always like to get the furniture plan down first -- the rest is pretty easy. I have a feeling you may end up with one or two excess items of furniture.

Wow you have beautiful pieces to work with! Can the big credenza go on the big with floor mirror behind it for drama….don’t have measurements but I would suggest moving those sofas closer and only one coffee table…here is a quick sketch…

Okay I misspoke, only 2 walls plus one small. You are still getting requests for more info. Just please take photos of the whole space and tell us how you use the space and for how many people.

I'm wondering where to place the piece that is blocking the window, the gold shelving, the two small armchairs etc., but I can't do that with photos of just the seating area.

I guess the only things out of scale are the dinky coffee tables, the little round sofa table, and the bench. You need a nice big coffee table to ground the room.

Trace Floyd..no….it would provide more contrast and adds much needed warmth..right now it is all one level of color and tone…contrast on those loveseats will look amazing and pull the black from the floor lampshades into the room and bring drama into the space…I would also reupholster the bench with black velvet..amazing!…add art with bold color..by moving the mirror behind that console it also would add unexpected drama and reflect the image of the loveseats with new pillows.

Trying to get to an easier starting point. It does look like sofas are too far apart from each other, and looks like there is room to use them in L-configuration if want to. Also the tall lamps would probably look best in a corner since their scale doesn't work with th chairs.

If you like bling! Tried a lot of rugs, and I think the black grounds the room pretty well.

I’m reupholstering the loveseats unless I could sell them and buy a couch. I love the black and gold area rug. I tried everyone’s suggestions but I’m still stuck.

Sarah did you move the sofas closer and remove one of the small coffee tables? That should make a huge difference…small chairs in front of window will make a nice conversation area…

I have a long french art deco sideboard by my windows so I can’t place the chairs in front of the windows. I moved the loveseats closer and removed one coffee table. Better but the one wall is a killer.

Sarah yes that Art Deco piece should go where your big armoire is with floor mirror leaning behind it…flanked with your floor lamps…than move armoire onto side wall and you need to remove the brass shelving..just too many pieces in the room…than flank the armoire with wall art to add depth and maybe some color or drama with black and gold…I think your loveseats are beautiful they just need some contrast on them and around them.🤗

Is there TV IN THE Armoire? Could you move your large credenza to wall where Armoire is and put TV on top? The Armoire is very traditional so it messes with your other styling. Probably throwing you off. But it would help if you could post a sketch of the space with measurements of all walls and openings and I can do a scale drawing for you. But these facts are needed to properly advise you.

I would make that Art Deco console the star of this room. Sell or donate the Armoire. Do you have “furniture sliders”? If not get several packages. They make moving furniture soooo much easier. Get 12 of the type for your floors.

Glad the OP is back! From the partial view of the sideboard, it looks to be too high for optimal tv viewing - assuming that is the tv location. I'd love to see the art deco sideboard in full. Are there 3 windows behind the sideboard?
