Is this from the vet? What do they tell you to do? I would think it should have a full ingredient label on the container?

Yes, there is an ingredient list on the side of the package. It's Blue Buffalo hydrolyzed kibble. It didn't occur to me to ask the vet if this food is ok long term when we were in very recently.

Anyway, I remembered that Chewy has a free service in which autoship customers can speak to a vet! I "chatted" with Dr. Erin, and she was very helpful. She said the food in question is fine long-term. Multivitamin not necessary, but since the kibble is grain free, I could add a little rice into his meals. Very nice service.

My dog is also already a senior. I take him to the vet at least once a year, even if he is healthy. At the vet, I have a thorough examination and blood work done. So far, there have been no deficiencies, so I do not give supplements yet. If it were necessary, I would of course give some after consultation with the vet.

Good for you, Luca Case. I do the same except he's at the vet more than once a year as he has skin issues, needs vaccines, etc. I hope your pup continues in good health.

I have never given our dogs a regular vitamin supplement, however, i have given our last 3 dogs a daily dose of Nupro joint support, with chondroitin and glucosamine, as well as ester C.
