Coyote Moon is consistently one of the best performers here.

Dances With Giraffes had its first full season, looks promising here.

Eenie Weenie is a great early performer, a front of the border plant.

I know yellow is not your favorite color Debra but you have some nice ones. Do you still have Sweeten Creek? And Moon Shimmers is beautiful. I'll be interested in how SC Irish Illumination does in the ground for you. I grew mine in a pot for years before the big freeze of 20/21 did it in...........Sherry: You have many pretty ones including some that I still have or had in the past and liked. I'm very fond of my own Buzz Saw. It had multiple blooms off and on all summer - even in our record heat. Forest God and Pizza Crust are two more favorites of mine..........I'll post later.........Maryl

Yellow is not a favorite for me either, but I do like some. Debra, Moon Shiner is very interesting and pretty. Lime Peel is nice. Sherry: Buzz Saw and Olfactory Evidence are my favorites of yours.

I tend to go to light yellows or green-yellow.

Brad: I like your O. Autumn Gold. It certainly is noticeable with that color........Debra: The heat and drought were a problem alright this year. We still are not out of the drought yet, but at least the temperatures are lower then 105. However, that's a whole 'nother adventure in daylily world with 35 degree temperatures a stiff north wind and me in my puffy coat shivering as I haul around a watering can to all my outdoor potted daylilies.......And here's one of the reasons why for me. Yellow daylilies. I think I have enough for now but only because I'm out of room....

I've had this one forever. It's an early bloomer.

Gold is not my favorite yellow shade but this one was a stunner. It never flinched in the heat, and bloomed for months and months on end. A Bill Norris child, notes on it say it's a great breeder as well:

Maryl - I don't water my pots very much in the winter. Only about once a month. How often do you water yours? Great Goodness Gracious is pretty. It looks more orangey than Bill Norris.

For those who don't like yellow and/or doubles avert your eyes-lol This is probably one of my favorite doubles and it is a beautiful yellow. Good form, consistently double, award winner. This is a rebloom picture from August.

Pass The Butter:

Normally color fading is a big no no for me, but when it changes to almost pure white, holds its form and golden edge, then I like it. This was how my Buzz Saw looked for me most of this year as it continuously pumped out blooms in triple digit heat:

A good producer on a nice plant. If the blooms were just more sunfast here it would have helped out its chances to stay long term.

Maryl - Pass the Butter and Kermit the Frog are nice ones! Miss Goldie fades some here, but not so badly I would get rid of it.

Bill Norris is a standout in our garden, but I didn't get a picture of it this year. I also like Kermit the Frog, Debra's eyed seedlings (especially Core Values X Bowtie Affair), Spider Miracle, and Solar Blast.

Plain yellow is not my favorite. I prefer the lemon yellow over gold. Put a red one on it, however, and it shoots to the top of my favorite list.

Double Daffodil was a bonus plant.

Golden Glitz is a late bloomer.

I love the way Green Arrow draws your attention from across the garden. The lemon/lime petals with the very green throat really catches the eye.

Sandra Elizabeth is plain but is nice to see in the very late garden.

Sun Temple is another plain one but is nice in the late garden. I like the lemon yellow color.

Tidewater Elf is a fabulous grower. It increases fast and has a lot of buds.

I like the teeth on Umbrella Cockatoo.

Aaron's Little Whopper is a cute small flowered diploid.

I love the shape of Mema's Simone, another small flowered dayliliy. This one is a tet.

This is a seedling we are really excited about. It is just 2 years old, but it has good stats and it reblooms. We hope it will be an introduction. It is Small World Fire in the Hole X Stoke the Fire. The flower is much bigger than the pod parent's flower.

I am certainly enjoying all of the yellows-golds that are being posted. Over time, I have really developed an affinity for the yellows. They can be seen from a distance and draw me in and then I see all of the other colors in the garden.

SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW - One of the first ones to bloom. I remember traveling to Robert Clary's garden in Chester, Virginia to see his collection of Siloam daylilies. I left his garden with two daylilies. This one and Custard Candy. SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW remains in my garden.

BUTTER CREAM: I just wish it was taller.

SULTRY SPANISH EYES: Loved the flower, but it was too short for my tastes, so it left the garden this past summer.

BILL NORRIS: An all around excellent plant. Consistent performer.

SKINNY DIPPER: This is an interesting bloom. The petals really curl back. I usually don't like this form, but over time, I have started to appreciate it more and more. It is a good increaser.

I see so many yellows that I'd love to add. That color is just my "thang" in daylilies.......Nan: While I don't care much for eyed daylilies, I do like Buckleberry Ferry with it's large deep maroon markings.....David: Lunar Empire and Solar Music could join my collection any day had I room......Debra: Thank goodness I've only had to water twice since the colder weather moved in (last couple of weeks or so). My daylilies outside are now going more dormant with less and less green foliage showing so hopefully it won't be necessary for awhile. It is supposed to rain Wednesday. David - The yellows with pink overlays appeal to me the most, especially Careless Dream and Sugar Cream Pie. The clump of Lunar Empire is impressive. I grew that on in a pot for several years.

Can I just say I have not been AWOL during these color posts! November and December are my busiest months in my schools and my photos have not been sorted and my days seem to be missing hours and so on! BUT, I do look at the posts whenever I can.

And, of course, I had to respond to the yellow post! I love yellows although they do not make the top five favorite list of most people. I laughed at David's statement. A daylily seller once told me he would miss half his sales if not for yellows pulling people in and then they usuall only bought other colors!

So, just checking in to say thanks to Debra for taking the time to do these posts. Love looking at these during dreary days. And I love all these yellows!!!

Green Mystique

David, you have a couple I really like. The LUNAR EMPIRE CLUMP is amazing. I like the individual flowers as well. Beautiful Edgings and Skinny Dipper are quite pretty as well.

I wondered where Kate was. She's a yellow fan for sure and grows many of them. I had to nod in agreement about yellows attracting attention from a distance. Debra: It's heartening to see that you still grow Green Mystique. It was one of my first daylilies and I had it for many years. It is a pretty one for sure...........Maryl

Yellow is a wonderful garden color, but many collectors, as well as the average Joe, shy away from it. People aren't likely to spend big money for a yellow intro--certainly not dealers, because yellow generally doesn't sell.

Bill Norris is certainly worthy of its awards, and a nice earlier one. There have been years though when it was subpar (rough winter or late spring freeze). This year wasn't a great year here. I see that Yellow Cockatoo is a Chad Bush. Anything that starts opening the night before and is earlier blooming gets chewed up here by earwigs. Small World Fire in the Hole is especially bad, and I wouldn't trust Lunar Empire in my home garden. Earwigs are less of a problem elsewhere.

Stone Beacon is very showy at the Urgent Care garden.

Butter Cream is certainly at least 28 inches here. A superior cultivar in hue as well as texture. Its bud count last season was better than usual here.

Boney Maroney had better bud count than in previous years.

Whistler's Sister has proven to be a keeper.

Thelma Douglas has a crowded scape. Someone in the South claims that never happens with his plant. A bit short here also.

The last few years, I have been delighted with the later performance of Caramel Glaze, a Munson. Creped texture and shading are appealing.

The Goldilocks Effect was a standout last season.

Lemon Lime Radiance blooms over a long time. The greenish cast and large glowing flower I find appealing. In a very sunny part of the garden, so difficult to photograph with its light yellow and green color. Shorter.

Mister Butters blooms abundantly in the early garden.

Oops, another of The Goldilocks Effect. Look at that texture!

Planet Claire is a nice Hanson yellow, also with texture in the veining. Big bloom.

Be Here Now is a mellow yellow later bloomer. Also a Hanson.

You do have some nice yellows Mantis. Lemon Lime Radiance is especially pretty, just the type of yellows I look for and enjoy. Whistler's Sister and The Goldilocks Effect are also very pretty.
