We have dark green hex in our downstairs guest bathroom and there is also a litter box in there which can get a bit dusty. I don’t think it shows much more dust than any other floor would. It does show water drops more than a light color but makes up for it by being so pretty. ;-) And, being matte with some subtle variation helps helps too. Here’s a pic I just took. It was swept and mopped on Friday and it’s Monday now. It’s our downstairs bathroom so we do use it regularly and it stays looking pretty good.

We have black hex in our bathroom and I would never put it in again (especially with the black grout we did.) If it were more of a slate grey or that beautiful green of the previous poster I think it would be better (I have dark grey tile in an entry and it’s fantastic). But, the black shows so much dust, dog hair, and the water spots and hard water stains in the bathroom are awful. I’m about to hit it today with some deep clr cleaning before holiday guests arrive. That seems to help.

Jenn Powers - So pretty! We may be using this for our bathroom floor tile with white cloe tiles on the wall. What brand/color grout did you use with the green tile?

I saw from another post you paired this with cloe. How does the variation in the green work with the cloe variation? We have a small bathroom so don’t want it to compete or be too busy. Thank you!

Hi AT! I can’t remember what grout exactly we used but it’s a charcoal grey. Black was too dark and anything lighter took away from the tiles and made it feel too busy. I think it’s beautiful with the Cloe. In person, the floor variation is very subtle (I think it would read with more variation on the vertical plane of a wall) and just interesting enough to let the Cloe do its thing. The white tub and toilet and the simple oak vanity also break things up just enough.

The short answer is Yes, dark surfaces always show everything.

Water spots usually show up as lighter. What dust or hair shows up will depend on the color of your dust or hair. Most of it can tend to show more on straight black or white tiles.

I think it also can depend on what finish is on the tile. Some that are a bit more shiny seem to be reviewed more favorably. But very matte not so much- we have had two threads recently about matte black hex tile from Lowes that the people have been disappointed with. It's not cleaning up well from install.
